The Hidden - Linda Hays-Gibbs

Gray world blended into the night then creeped through gardens, clouding definitions of time and space.  The female was terrified, frozen; silently she slinked back under the dark into the recesses to blend.  Darkness fell over her eyes like liquid ink.  She tossed her head slightly to remove it from her vision.  Exaggerated shrieks, calls from unknown directions, imagined creatures, her ears were palpitating with her own heart beats.  Jasmine floated through jungle air into her nostrils, reassuring her of beauty's fragrance.  Closing her eyes, she drank essence of night.
