Our Hill's of Robeson County North Carolina
William Hill Sr., my 3rd great-grandfather died the twenty-second day of August 1833, in Robeson County North Carolina. He was the son of Thomas Hill of Halifax County, North Carolina who died in 1768.
William, Sr. left his sons Josiah and William, Jr. (Billy) one hundred dollars each to be paid within two years after his death. All the rest of his property was to go to Edward Hill both personal and real, his eldest son. William and Josiah were established in the 1820 Robeson County census. Edward lived with his father William Sr., and was listed in the 1840 Robeson census. He had at least two daughters who were not named in his will. William Sr. came from Halifax County N.C. With his brothers Slaughter, Moses, Thomas, and sisters Elizabeth, Nancy, and Annis. There were two other brothers. Brother George died in Halifax or Martin County N.C. and brother James died in Bladen-Robeson County, N.C. about 1786.
William Sr. came to Bladen-Robeson around 1769. His son William, Jr, is my 2nd great-grandfather. William, Jr.'s son Solomon is my great-grandfather, and his son John Monroe Hill is my grandfather. John's son, Oliver Monroe Hill is my father. I am Kenneth Temple Hill, and with the exception of 3rd great-grand father we were all born and reared in Robeson County. My children, Kenneth, Jr. and Randy were born in Bladen County and both of my grandchildren, Luke and Jeralyn Hill were born in Wake County, N.C.
