The little blue box is the generator controller for turning it on and off from inside the house. The black box mounted on the wall is the solar panel link to the batteries. The white box lower to the floor is the inverter. When the generator is on, it powers the house and at the same time charges the batteries through the inverter. When the house is being powered by the batteries only, the inverter converts the 24 VDC from the batteries to 120 VAC at 60 Hz just like your local power plant sends to your house (sort of). That's paint that someone needs to put on the walls there and I have no idea what is in that brown bag... Oh yeah, the little black box on the shelf there is a meter for checking the battery voltage.
