First of all, it's been mentioned many times that Armey has said that, IF HEALTHY, Frohbeiter would be terrific. That being said, he never set foot on a practice field for the Rams. Hanifan never worked with him, not once. The only coaches he worked with were strength coaches Clausen and LeDuc.

When Hanifan saw him on tape from his junior year, Frohbeiter was playing with a bad shoulder.

Even though they sent him to Dr. Jobe and had the surgery done, Frohbeiter never regained the necessary strength in his shoulder to be an NFL player.

To me, the fact that the Rams would take a risk on a player like this, win or lose, is a good thing. Some gambles (Warner, Fletcher, Nutten), they hit on...some, like Frohbeiter, Daryl Bush and Willie Jones, are misses.

They still may hit on guys like Otis English or Hyder.

Bottom line, in my opinion, Frohbeiter not working out is far from a disgrace or a tragedy. I'm glad the team took the shot.

One point about taking a lineman first. As has been mentioned, they have their top six under contract for three years. To me, that's plenty of time to develop a second day draftee or a free agent to play tackle. I don't think, unless that tackle is the best guy on their board, it's a necessity to take one in the first round. The only one of the original "Hogs" (Starke, Grimm, Bostic, Jacoby and May) to be drafted was May. Of the Rams Pace was a one, Nutten a 7th, Grut undrafted, Timmerman a 7th and Miller a 4th. You don't have to take OL early to get good ones.

Hope all is well. See you the week before the draft.
