1. NEW UNIFORM. Possible New Uniform Preview?? CaptVger post on 3/12

I found this link on the Postnet Rams talk message  board [posted by MolsonRam].  It looks like the prototype for Warner's 2000. Starting Line-up figure.

They don't have any in the Home jerseys...but I think we can glean what they'll look like---->

Here is the one for Torry Holt--->

2. NEW UNIFORMS. Final Scoop? D. Canada posted on 3/13.

Just got off the phone with Rams Park.  Uniform change was  originally scheduled to be announced in February. However, because of the Super Bowl the date was moved to April around draft day.  Colors are Navy or Dark blue with Las Vegas (dirty) gold. Three changes of pants, white, navy and gold. This is 99.9 % sure.

3. RAMS PRESEASON GAMES. Give em the Horn posted on 3/12.

With the preseason games against the Titans and Dallas being televised nationally, we--- and the rest of the nation's football fans---will get to see Warner, Green, & Germaine. Imagine the envy of the rest of the league watching the Rams 3 QB's. How sweet it is.

Let's hope that this year none of them will get hurt.

4. COACH JACKSON & CURTIS KEATON. Drew Barna  posted on 3/10

Coach Bobby Jackson was in Bridgewater, Virginia yesterday to look at Curtis Keaton.  Keaton is a former James Madison University tailback. Keaton's most notable accomplishments were running 108 yards against the highly ranked Va. Tech defense,  and running for a single season  JMU rushing yard record of 1,719 yards. He also scored 21
touchdowns.

This was his second workout in addition to the one Keaton gave at the combine. Eight teams sent representatives to view Keaton's 90 minute workout at Bridgewater College. The Rams sent Jackson.  Bobby was impressed with Keaton's drill and speed work.  There were skeptics who wondered if Keaton could catch and the results of the workout proved he could catch.

Bobby Jackson was quoted as saying he thought Keaton has a lot of ability and was very impressive.

Bridgewater is a college town with more cows per capita than residents and more chickens than cows and I won't mention the flies. I can't believe a Ram's coach was in our town.  I would have liked to talk with him for a few minutes!

5. REPORT ON THE BERNIE MIKLASZ AUDIO LINK. Ram-Ble posted on 3/8.

On Bernie's audio report, he said what Armey would likely do after he'd trade down from the #31 pick in round 1.

Let's first review and clarify.

Armey would trade down into the second round, giving up our first rounder.  He'd get either an extra #2, #3, or #4 along with the second rounder.  What he'd get would depend on how far down into round 2 he'd drop. If he drops down to the latter part of round 2, he'd likely get an extra #2. If he drops to say the middle of the round, he'd maybe get an extra #3. And if he drops only to near the top of round 2, he'd probably pick up an extra #4.

Moreover, Bernie tells us what Armey will likely pick. Bernie sez defense. We've heard Armey say defense. So, that's a check and an important one. But, Bernie then sez that the OL is heavy with real good talent in this draft. And so, Armey may well go OL with his top pick.

There you have it. Trade down, an extra pick gotten, and we go defense or OL.

What, no Janikowski! We need that vodka swigging, thus-falsely confident fatso...right?

Anyway, sheesh, Armey may end up with 15-20 picks in this draft. What a <wink> horrible thought.

Next...Bernie sez on Fro...that the Rams are serious about him. They love him.

He tore his shoulder badly in his junior year, when he was the top rated OL draft prospect. He just really mangled that shoulder.  The Rams sent him to Dr. Frank Jobe, who fixed him up. He's since been on a weight program (note: he has been called in need of getting significantly stronger). He is 6'5" or 6'6" and 330 lbs. He's worked all last year with Matsko and Hanny. He's in great shape and the Rams believe he's gonna be "quite a good player" in the NFL.

Also, Bernie sez Miller and Grutt were rated. He said the Rams rated Fred Miller our 18th best starter of our 22 starters. And Gruttadauria our 19th best starter. I think I can guess who was 22nd. Hint: think TE.

Finally, Bernie sez that the Rams have apparently escaped danger with Lyght and McCleon, our Free Agent CB's. No teams have made offers to either. The Transition Tag seems to have worked with Lyght.

The Rams now want to sign Lyght to a 2 year deal. He's 31 years old and in great shape. And quite a good player.

6. OPINION. Best Football Color-Man right now. Rammed for Life posted on 3/12.

Here is the guy I would nominate as a color man that could make a success of MNF: Matt Millen.

This guy actually says interesting things--he is very observant and has a feel for the dynamic of the game. He is willing to voice an opinion--but is not all ego. He has some personality, but is not likely to be over-whelming.

I am sure he is under contract to Fox, but he is the guy I could see being a success on MNF. He has the WEIGHT for the prime time and actually makes sense.

Of course, the key to MNF is still the GAME--not the mouth. They desperately need some freedom to schedule December games that actually mean something--in December. The game is the thing!

The broadcaster who best understood that concept is the one who began MNF: Keith Jackson. Best play-by-play man I have ever heard.

7. ANOTHER OPINION. Billy_T posted on 3/12.

Best ever? Summerall/Brookshiser.  Summerall now appears past his prime. And Madden's former freshness, which just about all the current generation of announcers feel obligated to mimic ("Players love the mud. They just want to roll in it and hit someone!"), seems old and stale now.

But before Madden there was Brookshiser, who said the right things at the wrong time and so lost a political battle to hold on to his job.

But he knew his stuff, and could communicate it to the viewer.

I also liked Charlie Jones from the old AFL days. Very knowledgeable, and had an interesting delivery.
