1. THE CAP MUST be managed properly, and I think this is what Armey/Zygmunt/Martz are trying to do.  Sure, they could  restructure some contracts and the like, but that would mean GUARANTEED hard Cap hits later.

Sure, the Cap will go up $5-7M in each of the coming years, but as it goes up, so do the demands of the players.

If the Rams can sign KW and TLyght, then I begin to think either, the Rams will HAVE to lose KC or IB, OR they will find a way to keep both.  If you think about it, it isn't as obvious as it sounds.

I am willing to bet Zygmunt could tell you the Rams current Cap value for the next 3-5 years.  If not, then maybe the wrong bunch of folks are running the show.  With that knowledge, which WE don't have, whether Bruce, Carter, and/or Lyght are Rams next season and the one after that  COULD become evident.

2. KURT WARNER...GOOD CHRISTIAN SELFLESS MAN OR HYPOCRITICAL GREEDY GUS?

THE FACTS--->

* KW made NFL minimum for a 2nd year player

* KW repeatedly said money is not an issue

* KW repeatedly said his god was important

* KW repeatedly looked LIKE a god out there

* KW is an Exclusive Rights FA

* KW will play for the Rams or sit out 2000

* The Rams have $1.x M available, RIGHT NOW

* The Rams have a backup making $4M this year

* That backup will only cost $8~k less if traded

* KW has only played ONE year

THE RUMORS--->

* KW is asking for $15M signing bonus

* KW is asking for a 5-7 year deal...worth a LOT of money...

* KW asked for 65k from the YMCA to do a charity event

* KW has repeatedly turned down requests for appearances (actually this is a fact, but it fits in nicer down here)

* Martz WANTS to start TG

So, what is KW?  Good Christian Selfless Man?  He looks like a good christian to me.  I am sure the Roman Lions wouldn't disagree, but then again maybe they liked less lean meat! Selfless?  I don't know. Sure, he gave away $500k (or so he claimed that he WOULD).  But would YOU find it so hard to do that after the season HE had?  I didn't think so.  Selfless?  If so, he would play for the minimum.  Wealth for any reason is not as every christian's favorite third of  the trinity would do, regardless if it were to "set up his family" for their lives.  Of course, what HE would do doesn't necessarily mean everyone else should do!  I mean, can anyone even try to be THAT good?

Hypocrite? Maybe, but even I, a great cynic of the religious, don't see anything to imply this. Even IF he is demanding a $57M deal, he is only asking for what is his FAIR and RIGHTFUL share of the NFL's revenues. Even IF he is demanding $65k for charity appearances, this is not unusual for celebrities, ESPECIALLY ones that don't have enough time to do all of the ones they want to do anyway.  My mom, as governor-elect in her Lions Clubs district, wants KW to do something with her district later this year, for free!  (The Lions are a club that raises money, conducts research,  and distributes aid for the visually impaired.)  So I can understand why he might demand such a fee...also, the YMCA, as I have seen it lately, is NOT an evangelizing christian organization, but an inclusive non-denominational community service organization.

In conclusion, KW is a good man who is trying to get paid fairly for his performance.  How much he asks for is less of an issue, IMHO (as is ALL of this!), because  he is due a nice contract.

3. DON'T TRADE TRENT GREEN. TG will probably come back and be 95% or more of the QB he was.  He will benefit from backing up KW this year. He will not have to push his recuperation by starting for the Rams. He will be able to ease into full football shape by the end of the season, and will have several opportunities to display his wares.

KW will most likely miss part of a game or more due to injuries or blowouts.  Even if that does not happen, late in the season I would give TG the chance to run the starting O for a series or two,  and allow him to put together a few real drives. Then, at the end of 2000 season, next February, TG's trade value  will be worth a lot more to the Rams than any perceived peace of mind for KW and his fans this spring and summer.
