Thought this news may be of some interest to my Rams friends......

Today's St. Petersburg Times is reporting that former Florida State kicker Sebastian Janikowski rejected a plea agreement in his bribery case. The State contends that Janikowski dropped 3 one hundred dollar bills into the lap of a police officer who was arresting Janikowski's friend outside of a campus bar.

The plea agreement he rejected would have been a plea of "no contest," which would have given him probation of 2 years and court costs. His lawyer has stated they will take the case to a jury. If he is found guilty, he will be convicted of a 3rd degree felony, which carries a maximum of 5 grand in fines and up to 5 years in jail.

Along with being found guilty, he will be eligable to go in front of an immigration judge, with the possibility of being deported. He currently holds a student visa, which is no longer valid since he dropped out of school after the Sugar Bowl.

Now he probably will not be deported...but these extra legal woes are something he does not need on the eve of the NFL draft. He should pony up to the crime, pay the court costs and get on with his life.

His talents put him in the mid to late first round category. Teams are discovering that talented kickers are worth a high draft pick. The Bucs were laughed at for selecting Autimatica Gramatica last year with a 3rd round pick, but he singlehandely won 2 games last year.  He was easily worth the pick.

Janikowski,  however,  has had many off the field problems....his vodka drinking is legendary at FSU. The Rams have already had a player who has caused a DUI death, do they want the headache of this guy?

If he stays clean, he will be a steal if someone gets him in the 2nd round. If he does not stay clean, he may end up like Lawrence Phillips.
