Free agency basically means that you pay for past production as opposed to future production...which can get very frustrating.

About the Warner situation, I want to contribute the following:

1. The Warner camp...which includes Kurt...is very determined not to accept the low one year offer that the Rams are falling back on. They want Trent Green money,  which is impossible for the Rams to provide at this point without cutting Todd Lyght  loose.

As for the Edelstein report,  have not heard that big of a contract mentioned. What I have  heard is more in keeping with the Green deal at 4 years around 16-20million. Also I read Freddie's report and I think he had the Rams cap room very wrong.

2. If there is a holdout I don't think there will be a long one---Kurt is going to make a lot of money off the field this year.

3. Green is not going to be traded until next year and that is not palace intrigue on Martz's part---Zygmunt is the man identified in some reports as being skeptical about Warner doing it again.... big surprise.

4. The next two years cap increases will be about 6-7 million a year and will if structured properly allow them to keep Bruce, Carter and Warner....

5. They are offering Lyght a 2 year contract which would take him up to age 33...apparently Steinberg and Zygmunt are on the same page and I expect a deal in May to be announced. I expect Carter's deal in April or May.

A final note. The Rams are very much in the hunt to trade down, but there are very few takers for the #31 slot...there is usually very little action for that slot.
