Picking at # 31,  it is unlikely we will  draft a starter (unless someone gets injured in camp and the rookie steps up).

Still, I believe one of our Pro Bowlers could be replaced--- D'Marco Farr. Turn him into a situational pass rusher from the inside.  Considering Agnew's age of Agnew,  and the gact that lineman maul Farr out of rushing lanes, I think a guy in the middle with size is a need. But no one jumps out me at # 31.

There's a problem though.

Defensive tackle Josh Evans has been suspended by the NFL for the entire 2000 season due to violating the league's substance abuse policy.  I'm wondering if this changes their draft strategy a bit, since ther Titans pick at # 30,  right before the Rams. This could cost us a guy like Chris Hovan, Darwin Walker or Jerry Johnson if the Rams were going to draft their most pressing starting need in this draft in Round # 1.

Although on the flip side this could open up the philosophy for drafting the "best player available" instead of need, which I always think is the smarter strategy in the draft.  You fill needs in FA after the initial Big salary cap busters are out of the way & draft the best player available.

I'm hoping the Rams take the guy highest on their BOARD regardless of position and that means QB, WR or even a K.

If they dropped, would you by-pass any of these players? ---->:

DE-John Engleberger or Darren Howard

DT-Chris Hovan, Darwin Walker or Jerry Johnson

OT-Stockar McDougle, Chris McIntosh, Todd Wade or Marvel Smith

OG-Cosey Coleman

LB-Brian Urlacher, Raynoch Thompson or John Abraham

RB-Jamal Lewis, Shaun Alexander or even Ron Dayne

WR-Dez White or Travis Taylor

S-Deon Grant

CB-Ahmed Plummer, Rashard Anderson or Dwayne Goodrich

K-Sebastian Janikowski

QB-Chad Pennington or Chris Redman

I guess my point is teams that have solid starters and depth should always look for the best player available instead of filling a need (unless he could start as a rookie).
