IN PRAISE OF CAPTAIN KURT
BY progRAMmer (Jan 8)
|
The "Miracle Season" of 1999 rolls
into the new millenium for the St. Louis Rams on the arm of NFL NVP Kurt Warner when the
Rams take on the Minnesota Vikings this Sunday at the TWA Dome. |
Kurt
Warner has been a Godsend to this team.
When Trent went down in the pre-season, many of our hearts stopped. The question asked was
"Can Kurt Warner lead this team, and can he just not "lose" games for
us?" The question has been answered with an emphatic "YES".
41 TD's all the 300+ games, 13 wins, astronomical QB rating, MVP of the league. That is
just phenomenal.
Yes, he has some flaws. I think he has problems under throwing the long ball at times,
that has not gone away. He has corrected some "technical" problems such as
holding the ball up when in the pocket, taking sacks instead of throwing the ball away.
Stating these things doesn't mean I'm anti-Warner... I think Kurt Warner has been just
what I said---"phenomenal".
The season is broken down into 3 stages; pre-season, regular season and playoffs. Kurt has
passed the first 2 with flying colors.
The last stage is a totally different animal. Just as we asked the question after Trent
went down, now, another can be asked. "Can Kurt handle the pressure of the playoffs
and take us to the promised land?"
I would have to say 'absolutely'. The uncertainty about him from before the season has
turned into absolute confidence.
The story will be played out next weekend and beyond. If he passes this ulimate test
he will not only be a league MVP, but a complete QB who has passed all the tests of a
champion. This will rubber stamp his greatness for years to come.
I believe he can get it done, with a little help from his friends. |
