1. MARTZ. Peter King reported today [Sunday Jan 9] that Shaw and Martz were negotiating a "Belichik type deal", where Martz would be guaranteed the HC job when Vermeil's contract runs out. King cited John Shaw as the source, so it seems pretty legitimate.

Boy, do I hope this is true. This would stabilize the RAMS for the next few years.

I have been posting for the last week that I believe Martz is an important cog in the RAMS football machine. Securing Martz for the future would assure the RAMS being a force much like the Cowboys of the 90s. We as fans could look forward to playoff and Super Bowl appearances over the next decade.

Shaw has been making a lot of good calls lately. Please, let this be another one.

2. GREEN. Today [Sunday Jan 9] Chris Mortensen reiterated on ESPN Sports Sunday that the RAMS are content to keep both Warner and Green for next year.

He said the RAMS are working on a new contract for Warner and that unless a team offers a "blockbuster" trade involving "two number ones,"  Green will be in a RAMS uniform next year.

Interestingly enough, DV took a step to diffuse any future QB controversy by telling MORT that Warner is his starting QB for next year and beyond.

So that's it: The Rams WON'T trade Warner and they have to take the salary cap hit for Green anyway, so they'll keep him.

Why do some Rams fans have so much trouble accepting that our team is blessed with two good QB's?

Usually at this time of year, I'm reading mock drafts. All those mock drafts are moot until the Trent Green bidding war starts, cuz it could shake up the entire order if Pitt, Balt or SF decide to sell the farm for Green.
