night [Feb 20], says the Tucker offer was the "only" surprise this offseason
(emphasis on "only" surprise). He sounded pissed about the offer and wondered out loud where Miami got the information on him to be able to make him an offer like that. He said they certainly did not get their info from watching film of him play since he was only in on less than 10% of the plays. Sounded really curious about the offer and how it came about that is was so high. He said they certainly did not plan on an offer like that for him and that it wouldn't heve mattered if they tendered him more. Ron [of KMOX] asked if he would match and he said they will decide in the next five days, but they will probably keep the line intact as it is and match the offer. He sounded enthusiastic about Nutten going to center and Spikes to guard and Tucker to tackle and the Rams not missing a beat on the OL. I tend to think indeed do match Tucker as he indicated. I also think that it is the case that the Rams did not plan on Ryan getting an offer like that. They anticipated the offers to the other players and sounded resolved to lose them, or that it was part of the plan, since he had already penciled in Spikes at guard (he even mentioned how Spikes won the job there last year before he was injured). He did seem to imply, IMO, that there was some type of information Miami had from somewhere that helped them make this offer. I have to emphasize that he was incredulous about why they would offer that much to someone who has played so little. He didn't just casually mention it either. He must have said it at least 3 times, maybe 4. |
