Key moment in Rams/9ers game at 3Com...

I recently watched a tape of that game. I was at the actual game, so I didn't see the TV broadcast until I watched the tape, and on tape I saw a play where Warner's season almost ended.

After Warner threw a pass, one of the 9ers (I believe it was Charles Haley) fell on the side/back of Warner's right leg, and very very fortunately Warner's leg slid forward on the thick grass and did not buckle. I can practically guarantee that if that play had happened on artificial turf Warner's foot would have STUCK in the turf and his knee would have been totally torn up just like Green's.

It was the only play I saw all season where Warner appeared to just miss a serious injury (except for possibly theSuperBowl where Kearse dragged him down from behind by his facemask. Very fortunately on that play also, Kurt's feet slipped out in front of him or else his whole body would have buckled brutally.)

This is just my way of suggesting that we KEEP TRENT GREEN.

Besides, it doesn't appear that there is a big demand for QBs this off-season anyway. There are several QBs who aren't moving (most notably Jeff George) so it doesn't seem like we could get a high #1 for Green at this time. Maybe after he puts in another spectacular pre-season and shows he's 100% some teams will vy for his services and engage in a bidding war.

The only drawback to keeping him this year is that it will be tough---very tough---for him to be a back-up when he knows he should be starting somewhere (and really that's only a "drawback" for Green personally, not for the team or the fans). But the best thing we have going for us when it comes to that is Mike Martz. Martz and Green are very close and care a great deal for each other, so Green might be willing to "grin and bear it" just because of his relationship with Martz.
