The NFLPA and S. Rice have lost their case against the Cardinals over the Franchise tag.

I think that the Franchise tag issue will give management a strong tool for keeping its stars. I wouldn't be suprised to see GB, Cinn, Ariz, and others Franchise their star players before the deadline now. Cin and GB withdrew their Franchise tags prior to the legal decision.

I think we'll see a lot of players receive the Franchise tag compared to years past. They'll get hit with the Tag for a 1 yr contract, and then they'll work out a long-term cap-friendly contract to remain with their current team.

If you are a disgruntled player trying to find a way out of town, I think you'll be even more disgruntled by today's decision because you'll never truely see free agency. You're at the owner's mercy now.

Then again, maybe teams will just go with the 1 yr guarantee and then trade the player without the salary cap hit...except now there's no signing bonus to be stuck with. Perhaps we'll see more trades?
