[Note: The following notes & comments on Charley Armey's KFNS appearance are provided by Tony, KingRam and EdHead.]

TONY: Armey  said the Rams thought they had Fred Miller signed last November for what he described as "Miller's real worth,"  but Miller then fired his agent.  He said that at that point the Rams figured Miller was  gone. He also talked up Gaylon Hyder, Frohbieter, Spikes, and the Rams depth at LB

KINGRAM: Heard Armey on KFNS this afternoon and he continued to say how shocked he was at the Tucker offer but that they had planned for most everything else. He said he expected to match any offer Tucker got---he just did not think it would be this big. "But we'll be alright" he said. He expects and is planning on losing even more players to free agency next year. He must have said how he planned for all of this about 4 or 5 times.

As Mike Claiborne was saying goodbye, Armey jumped in and said "I just want to tell our fans to sit back, relax, and enjoy the ride. We know what we are doing and have things under control, so no need to get alarmed. We were smart enough to put together a team that went to the Super Bowl last year for you and we plan on making a run next year too."

He seemed really defensive about people implying lately that he didn't know what he was doing. JMO of course.

EDHEAD: Armey convinced me! Like he said, we lost 2 starters, Miller and Grut. And we have replacements ready to fill the positions. We lost 2 backups, and we have backups in place behind them. He also said that due to our youth and depth, we should be better than we were last year.

After years of frustration, I look forward to sitting back and watching this guy do his thing.

When discussing team depth, Armey used a few examples---one player he seemed inpressed with was DT Gaylon Hyder,  who spent most of the year on the practice squad. Armey said he was 6-4, 315 and had a lot of potential.
