A STAR ON DEFENSE: I thought that we had a real star on defense last week against Baltimore. You are aware of Carter, Wistrom, Lyght, and Lyle.

But, I saw one more. He appeared to me to play a great game. He covered excellently. He tackled very solidly. He was a team leader, who even charged up the fans.

The guy was Billy Jenkins, #22, who's coverage this year is light years from last year. Ya' year?

The guy was always on his man. And, he really played strong safety like a free safety. He got there to help DB's, LB's. He was the difference in a lot of incompletes.

Plus, he led us last year in tackles. And seems to still have that knack. I don't think the numbers were there in tackles, but he was "involved" and solid. That's the best description of Billy.....he is INVOLVED.

I think, being out of Howard Univ....a small school....means that he is still learning by leaps and bounds in this his third year. Lots of upside. And, he loves to compete. A Vermeil type player!

WARNER: I heard some of Vermeil's radio show tonite. He said one thing interesting. He said as a "fact" that Kurt Warner is a 60 completion percentage QB!

And, he said he may have some games of 70% and some of 50%, but he'll NEVER have a game under 50%!!!!!!

That's a h*elluva statement. Especially for a new QB. If true, and I'm gonna hold him to it, we have a real QB in Kurt.  A real deal.

So, we may have 2 QB's. One hurt.

THE DIVISION: We really could win our division, the NFC West. Has to do with the competition. They are all beatable IMO.

The Niners have slipped. In fact, they may have more holes than us last year. The Saints have lost too many great players. Martin, Cleeland, Roaf, Ricky ailing. And nada at QB. The Panthers are toothless.

Only the Falcons are good. But somehow they don't seem like last year. I believe they really miss Martin at WR. Chris Calloway led their reciving this week. And, believe me, he ain't 4th on our depth chart. Plus, Reeves seems to being a turn-off....alienating Jamal some, etc.

So, why not? Why not us?

THE WEEK TWO CUTS: Harris.  I thought he was a disappointment as a blocker. And as a runner too. Make that as a receiver too.

Armey's cuts? I simply like the action. The churning. The searching. We weren't very active on final cutdown day. Was disappointed. This is making up for it.
