Editor's note: Epic has answered the question we have all been asking: how on earth do they calculate those QB ratings?

[Now if we can only figure out what THIS means!]

The NFL passer rating is calculated as follows...

{[(Completion Percentage - 30) times 0.05] + [(Yards per attempt-3) times 0.25] + [Touchdowns per attempt times 0.2] + [2.375-(Interceptions per attempt times 0.25)]} * 100 / 6

It's just that simple.

He he.

Also, the four crucial categories cut off at certain minimum and maximum numbers. Completion percentage doesn't calculate lower than 30 percent or higher than 77.5. Yards-per-attempt cut off at 3 minimum and 12.5 maximum. Touchdown percentage cuts off at 11.875. Interception percentage cuts off at 9.5.

Or, in other words: we're not supposed to understand.
