DOUBT? Dropsies and horrible secondary play lost the Lions game. Still that old battle of mistakes vs consistancy...

But what is it exactly people are "doubting"? I see the word thrown around but I don't see this team getting on the field again this year and "doubting" that they can't pummel most all of their future foes for quite some time. The point is it's one thing when you screw up and let a team beat you and it's quite altogether something different to get your hat handed to you, something that hasn't happened. That's where the real "doubts" I believe occur. When you look at the game and feel like you need a break to win...a break like a missed chip shot FG, losing three fumbles, or blowing a scad of coverages and dropping too many passes. It happens. What  this team still doesn't "doubt" is that when they roll out their game that the game is theirs...

For St Louisans things are a bit different than many other fans. IF this team brings a playoff game to the TWA dome(and I think this is quite likely) there will be a strong case that this will be the best team in 35 years of NFL Football in St Louis...

THE 77 EAGLES. That team outscored their opponents 220 to 207 yet went 5-9. Why? Because they could blow out the weaker teams and then lose close to the better ones. Get the picture? They did go on to post winning records and have playoff appearances culminating in the Superbowl appearance. I thought this sort of thing might happen last year and this year too...and well it appears that way. They haven't learned to win the big game when it's close but I think they will.

History shows pretty well that thinking the team was going to go 19-0 and get thier rings was probably not going to happen. At this point and actually all along I would've predicted this team to lose in the playoffs. IF you look at teams that win the Superbowl they rarely come from nowhere. They have a rising series of a couple a years, win it, and then generally go into some decline.

Needless this is a very good football team and has lost 2 close games to 2 other very good football teams. Only a rash of injuries would put them out of the playoffs with this schedule. They are built on a good and stable nucleus now and only have a few players (Carter and Lyght) that are FA concerns. They should get better and be pretty good over the course of a period of the next 3 years I would say...
