This is "The
Miracle at the Bus Stop"---a true story. The Bus Stop is the local sports bar in SF where Rams games are shown regularly. Throughout the year san fRAM fan and I have kidded each other about missing Ram TDs because one or the other of us had stepped away to go to the restroom. He missed a Tony Horne kick return. I missed a Faulk TD catch. All big, long plays. Well yesterday the Rams continued to fritter away their lead and looked they were in big trouble when the Panthers had the ball again after their 3rd TD. At that point san fRAM looked straight at me and said, "I'll tell you what. I'm going to step away to the restroom. That way the Rams will intercept and return for a TD." He wasn't joking either. I said it couldn't hurt and wished us luck. Very next play, Dre Bly intercepts Beurelein and runs the ball in for a TD. Rams are in the clear. It needed to be done and san fRAM made the ultimate sacrifice. The other bar patrons couldn't believe it. This is all true. |
