MONDAY MORNING QB

ON THE CAROLINA GAME. .The Rams called a conservative game Sunday on offense. No 90 flip, no shovel pass. The only thing different was the option play for Az. I agree with this. Why show everyone all your tricks when you don't need them. Still, a Warner bootleg vs the Faulk sweep on 3rd and 1 would have gone for a long gainer, since everyone was going after Faulk.

Amp Lee is mearly an insurance policy right now. He only got in 2 or 3 times, and should have been playing at the end instead of Faulk. Unless he is hurting and they are not telling anyone, he should be in there more.

It was a quiet game for Wistrom. Not a lot of pressure and not a sack, but he did run down a few plays across the field.

NFL dilemma: Have a well called and boring game, or a loosely called exciting game. Example, the 3rd quarter yesterday. An 8 minute drive with 5 penalties, 60 yards gained that ended in a punt. That is why everyone is saying this was a boring game. If the officials called everything, then the games would be over 4 hours long, and fans would be bored to tears.

Pace held all the way on Faulks TD run. I mean big time hold, with both hands, even after separation by the opponent. He got REAL lucky on that one.

Holcombe is OK. I'm not worried about the fumbles. He really should have just stepped out yesterday, he already had the 1st down. Old habits die hard. I believe this game was the first time he was really healthy again. Don't overlook his non-contribution due to his injury in the 2 loses.

No sacks given up to Greene or anyone else! Excellent line blocking!

What were they doing letting Warner throw at the end of the 1st half? One hit and that could be  our season! Simply run the clock out, or throw a short pattern. There was no need for a deep pattern then. Luckily, the D held and time ran out. PS. Kurt, you can throw one out of bounds every  now and then.

Kudos (what the heck IS a kudo?) for the D, especially Mike Jones. He played a very good game---the fumble return, an almost INT and several good tackles.

DV philosophy and letting rookies mature before playing them is correct. Bly and Coady looked OK when they came in, not overwhelmed. That wouldn't have happened in game 1 or 2.

They were obviously trying to get Holt going. They kept throwing to him. He has to catch them though. Luckily we didn't really need them today. He might be getting a little tired. This week is the same as an entire college season ( 4 preseason, 8 regular season games) for him. Maybe they need to rest him some in a future blow out.

Proehl is becoming Mr 3rd down. With Az and Holt being inconsistent, Proehl is the obvious  option.

Another scheme was to use the TE more yesterday. Passes to Williams and Robinson showed that they want to use them more, or they thought the Panthers couldn't defend them.

The announcers were BORING. No wonder the game sounded bad on TV. It's not the crowd noise, it's the monotone announcer with their pathetic attempts at jokes. Do we really need to explain every Rams off season move during game 8? Don't you think the fans just might know that by now, or probably don't care?

THE SUNDAY AFTER. Every team but one the Rams have played this year has LOST the game after playing the Rams. [Cincinnatti beat Cleveland]. Is this coincidence? I don't think so. I think the Rams hit very hard, which takes its toll on the other team. I also think that early on, teams came away from the Rams games kind of  scratching their heads, wondering what happened.

Now, they get so jacked up for the game (Tenn and Detroit) that they let down the following week.

Of course, SOME teams are still losing after playing the Rams. Hmmmm, I wonder which team that could be?
