Editor's note: Niner Loyal proves that many Niner fans have class, too. While giving his team the advantage, he shows plenty of respect for our team and for us!

Words of Friendly Challenge:

I couldn't help but notice that not many Niner fans are posting over here. Guess one of us better get our plug in eh?

O commend the Rams on an impressive showing thus far. I also commend those of you who have remained loyal to the Rams over the years (not an easy thing to do) I think that we Niner fans have been spoiled rotten, and if we had to endure the years that the Rams have taken the Niners would probably lose a bunch of fans (chumps).

But this year the "brushing aside of the sacrificial "ram" is not so guaranteed. Normally the Niners look to the Rams as a good week to have hurt players or a good game to get some momentum going, but I - for one - am a bit nervous.

Your team looks VERY good. I think that you have found a real gem at QB, although he could turn into another Jim Everett (lets hope not - you fans deserve some good years). Your WRs have been absolutely phenomenal! I think that if our WRs play to their potential we are slightly more talented, but your WRs are all heart - and right now I give them the edge.

Honestly I think QB has to fare in Steve Young's Favor. If he plays he will be as dangerous as he always is, if he doesn't I think Garcia is good - but not good enough for any blowouts (yet). The defenses both look stronger than was originally expected - except that I give the Rams an edge at CB.

All in all, this is my prediction: If Young plays and is hit less than 6 times the Niners win by 14. If Young plays and is hit more than 6 times he is pulled and we lose by 7. If Garcia starts and has good protection - the game will be decided by 7 or less.

Good Luck - let's hope for no injuries!

Response to Ramajama's praise of our WRs:

Fair enough. But if my predictions hold true I ask the same respect from you.

Your WR's have shown some real talent, but it is WAY too early to induct them into the hall of fame or even deem them the "best group in the NFL."

I recall a few years ago that many Rams fans though Flipper Anderson was the "best in the NFL," Jerry Rice included.

Hmmmmmmm, what happened? Rice (that poor rickety old fart) is still around and is still (cough, cough) catching 1,000+ yards per season. Steve Young - the old geezer is leading the #1 offense last year and putting up (please pass the metamucil) better numbers than most QB's even dream of.

I will give your WR's the credit they deserve - thus far they look VERY good, and I think our DB's have their hands full (to say the least) but I haven't seen enough to say they are the best. I would go so far as to predict that our WR's will outdistance yours this weekend - If I'm wrong I will publicly admit it on your board. If I am right, you give the same courteousy on ours - deal?

Don't forget that you are talking about the best (statistically) three WR's in the NFL in 98. The #2 pass offense (behind only Randy Moss and Minn.) and the #1 overall offense for the last year.

Now if I recall correctly Rice wasn't 25 last year, and Owens was playing in the same NFL as Bruce Holt was - and out numbered him (just check the stats my friend) Toss in a #3 WR who pulls in 700+ yards and I think you don't have much of a case. You go out and find me a #3 WR with 700+ yards - I challenge you!! And I would really like to see one who wore a Rams Uniform!

Your WR's have been great so far, but let's not start naming stadiums after them or assuming that they are the next - well - Jerry Rice.

Final Remarks:

Rams Have Some GREAT Fans! Posted by Niner Loyal on 10/4 11:08 pm

I just want you guys to know that I respect you guys a ton. Many of you have stuck by your team through thick and thin. If the Niners don't take it this year - I will be rootin for the Rams, just because I think they have the best fans in the NFC.

(I might add that I think the Rams are better this year than they have been for a long, long time!)
