1. INTERESTING STAT---5-0 Team Point Differential

* 1921 Buffalo All-Americans  +159
* 1941 Chicago Bears +157
* 1968 Dallas Cowboys  +136
* 1999 St. Louis Rams +123

As you can see there is only one other modern team on this list. I doubt that '21 and '41 were years when parity was a word thrown around much in terms of the NFL...

What does this mean? The Rams are tracking a very rare statistical pattern at this point. At the end if it continues on something like this pace, it will represent  one of if not THE greatest single season turnaround in NFL and sports history. What is also remarkable are the projected single season numbers for the team and Warner. I know that it is doubtful that this pace continues throughout the whole but something close to it is very possible I think and I imagine the 68 'Boys had a few closer games to follow...

point differential is probably one of the best indicators of a teams level of ability...

2. BROWNS/TITANS. When the Browns fumbled the KO return I knew the game was over. Kinda anti-climactic really...

I was almost dumfounded that the Browns could allow Bruce in the middle of the field without anyone within 10 yards or more of him...the Rams will eat that up. Two deep defensive approaches have now been fried the last two weeks. We'll see how the "46" holds up... On any play the Rams have an almost unique ability to threaten all the parts or the field. Someone I think is always deep, intermediate, and short with always an option near the LOS...

...of course the Titans are a little different and whatever the outcome this is the new "judgement" game. Win and the Rams will be shining kings of the NFL...lose? "they haven't beat anybody" where our solace will still be a big lead in the west and the Niners will be lumped into the "nobody" catagory...

3. WARNER. How amazed should we be that as good as he has been Warner's actually getting better with time and experience?  Now it appears that he's even perhaps an accelerated version of Trent Green who is benefitting from a learning stint with Martz. Note his improving playfake---something that Green was known for. I think this is coming in part from willing students getting superior instruction  and in part because play action is one of the Rams best and most used weapons. I've seen I think more defenders turned into statues than I can ever remember. Should we call it the "Aegis" offense...

4. CAN THE RAMS STOP A POWER RUNNING GAME? Is this the last question to really need an answer? Can they stop a forceful running game???

...for someone to really need their running game I believe they need to be ahead and trying to work the clock, something that's yet to happen...and psychologically now with this offense,  how far ahead does a team need to be to be able to run the ball and still be able to afford not to get scores out of the endeavour? I guess what I'm trying to say is that for someone to really get to pounding it out with the Rams they need a comfortable lead,  and despite the fact that they haven't had to really come from behind ANY other team knows that the Rams have plenty of offensive firepower to swallow up a good sized lead quickly

....so even if another team leads they are going to have a tough choice to actually go into a real conservative running game. I don't the the run D is actually that bad either. The D has looked like it gets to coasting at times and allowing yardage,  but then they always seem to turn it up at the end of the field and keep opponents from TDs,  or they force a turnover...
