[Ed. Note: this post taken from the PD Rams Talk board.]

Ack. First let me just say that even though Joe didn't do as an outstanding job as I know he could have- he did pretty good for a first game rookie. However, I was disappointed in the fact that the whole team seemed to me as though they just didn't care. Before I go picking the game to death though, let me just say I'm glad we got out of there with no injuries. A win would have been GREAT- but I am glad our starters will be healthy for the playoffs- also props to the Eagles for a good football game.

Now to Joe Germaine. Everyone on this board knows I have backed Joe from preseason and will continue to do so. Lets start with the negatives first:

1. Turnovers. Joe had one turnover in which he also lost his shoe... ouch.

2. Interceptions. Before anyone even says anything to me about Joe's interceptions I would like to point out that Warner also had two interceptions on the day- one that lead to a TD- so the game losing TD could just have easily been due to the lack of good play on either Warner or Germaine. The one pass was deflected off Hakim's helmet- Joe's fault, but not entirely. The second interception that lead to a TD- what more can I say. I dot know what happened with that and Joe probably doesn't either.

Now the bright spots...

1. Joe was on target a lot of the time. I believe his first 6 out of 7 passes were completions. Go Joe!

2. When Holcombe lost the ball Joe stepped up and made a tackle. Go Joe!

3. I think it was Holcombe again that ran for like 15 or so yards after a give from Joe. Joe blocked 2 corners to allow some extra yardage. Go Joe!

4. Joe seemed very calm in the pocket and took his time to make sure that a majority of his throws are accurate. Go Joe!

5. Joe's first TD pass was both a long and accurate throw, a good example of his arm strength and his ability to read plays. How long was that pass? I was too excited... Go Joe!

I think Joe did very well in the 3rd quarter for a rookie playing with the second and third string players. He seemed cool in the pocket and was right on target with quite a few passes. The game was overall disappointing for Rams fans and I dot think we played the way we should have. I did see quite a few bright spots in Joe's performance, arm strength and quickness and scrambling in the pocket were quite a few. Put Joe in with the likes of Faulk and Bruce and we've got ourselves a damn good QB.

Overall I would give Joe a B, you have to take into consideration that taking snaps in practice with your own team mates is a lot different in playing in an NFL game, on the road, without the comfortable lead that the Rams have had during the course of the year. I'm not making excuses, and will take all the lumps you give me over the 2 interceptions and the fumble. I do however, feel as though a combination of it being Joe's real first start with the team (other then taking a knee) and anticipation had a lot to do with it

I don't care what the PD says or the sports announcers on 2,4,5 and 30. I've never not backed Joe up after a performance, good or bad. This has done nothing negative for my faith in Joe...

I know Joe can do this, and he boosted my faith in him a little bit more today. I think he did an overall good job for his first start. If anyone expected him to go out there and look like Young or Elway it was unrealistic. Joe hasn't played in a game for over a quarter since he was with the Bucks last year leading them to a win in the Sugar Bowl :) I think he may have been a bit rusty and overwhelmed but he handled it with the coolness, poise and confidence I knew he had.

Congrats on the TD pass Joe- I was rooting for you as I will continue to do until you are the next great Rams QB!!

Bill or Charlie- if you read this I have the game on tape and would be happy to make copies for you guys... you know my e-mail address :) I know you don't get games out there Bill and if Joe's parents would like a copy please let me know!

GO RAMS!!! The playoffs are almost here!!!
