Does Conwell go to FB, as some have speculated? True, Conwell was initially  drafted to be a FB/H-back.  But the problem is no one within the organization seems to feel that he has the running skills to play the position.  They are also under the opinion that he can be one of the top 5 TE's in the league if healthy & one of the very best blockers in the league with his upper body strength. So,  for the sake of discussion---I believe you always put the best players on the field so you don't play Roland Williams while alternating Conwell & Holcombe at FB.

I also would rather have Chad Levitt as a back-up FB to Holcombe than Conwell because Levitt is an exceptional runner with legitimate speed and can easily play the one back set with Faulk in the slot while Holcombe may struggle with that.  Sure Holcombe is better than Derrick Harris, but I believe that with Chad Levitt's speed he may be better than Holcombe in a one back set with 3 wide.  Holcombe punishes the 1st tier of tacklers, while IMO Levitt has the ability to run through a small hole a bit quicker.

Although having said all of that about Levitt I would really rather seing Justin Watson get the chance to play the one back set with Faulk in the slot & Bruce & Holt out wide.

I think the answer is keeping all 3 TE's when Conwell comes back because they all will have a bigger impact on our wins & losses this year than guys like Hobgood-Chittick (if we lost him I believe he could be replaced by someon on the list of waived players).

Now---Jeff Robinson? He is a very capable back-up DE still.  You can sign those guys, but I don't believe you can find TEs with the recieving skills that Chad Lewis brings to the table in his 6'-6" frame.

I also do not believe keeping a guy like Mike Morton or Troy Pelshak for LB depth is as important as keeping a guy like Chad Lewis who can create mismatch problems for any SS in the league  in multiple TE sets & so make an impact on the score. A 5th or 6th LB won't even play situational defense except in the case of injuries and on special teams.

Okay. Here are the moves barring injuires in my opinion:

Amp Lee returns. The Chad Levitt rubber bands snaps again (poor guy).

The key here is Justin Watson & his ability to play in a one back set & if he can (which I think he can) than see ya Chad Levitt.  If not than the coaching staff has to asked themselves once again what they project James Hodgins to be & so make a decision between him & Levitt.

So. Ernie Conwell returns. Nate Hobgood-Chittick is waived & signed to practice squad. Daniel Jones or Clifton Crosby waived from practice squad. Leonard Little returns. Morton or Pelshak is waived. Considering the salary cap management issue my money is on Morton, especially since Pelshak offers alot of upside & good special teams play.
