I've got a nephew who just graduated from Ft. Hays State in Hays, KS who has been a Bears fan since he was a kid. Don't ask me why. Where I grew up it's either the Chiefs or the Broncos depending upon what part of the state you're in.

Anyway, my nephew came into town for the Bears game and brought with him a couple of his classmates from high school, one of which has been a Rams fan since the mid to late eighties. So this was like a dream come true for both of them.

The guys stayed at my house the night of the game and of course the nephew was a little down but this "kid" (Scott) who's only 23-24 yrs. old new more about the Rams than I do. Mind you, I openly admit I did not become a Rams fan until they moved here in 1995, but I do pride myself on knowing a lot about the current Rams. They had tickets in the north end zone and when Faulk caught the screen pass from 52 yds out, he immediately stood up and screamed touchdown. In his words..."Faulk caught that ball and he's on the 50 yd line and I see those guys out there blocking for him and I yell 'touchdown' cause I can see it all in front of me even though he was still fifty yards from the goal line."

To see the joy in this kid and to listen to him talk about his passion for the Rams was truly enjoyable. I got a sense of what a lot of the posters on this board who have followed the Rams through their years in LA must feel. Scott knew more about the Rams than I will likely ever know. And he's only 23 yrs. old. Some here have been following this franchise for more than 40 years. It must be such a wonderful feeling to have these Rams playing so well after having been down for so long.

My nephew, the Bears fan, was talking about the Rams offense and their plethora of weapons and was just shaking his head in awe. Man, they can do it from anywhere with anyone, he said.

The four of us sat, drank and talked until about 12:30 a.m. That's when my newborn son finally went down for good. The three guys went back out drinking then returned at around 3:30 am. They were still going strong. The drank all my beer and finished off an opened box of wine I'd had since my fortieth birthday party in July.

There was a series of posts a couple of days ago regarding "what this board means to me." Being busy with the holidays with various family activities, I never got to read that thread or participate in it but can imagine some of the heartfelt comments that were made.

This board means a lot to me in that I feel a kind of kinship with several of the posters here. But even more importantly, I keep up on the latest developments and attitudes of the Rams and get my most reliable, credible information here. We are some of the strongest supporters the Rams have. I wish you all could be here for the games.

As we head into the playoffs let's all, as devoted Rams fans, come together and rally behind this team because what we have here is truly special and may not happen again. I mean, you never know. I have my "Herd" shirt and I'll be wearing it at the Dome at the playoffs. As a St. Louisan, it really kills me that the crowd is not more boisterous at the games. That's more of a commentary on the state of professional sports these day. I don't know of one die-hard Blues fan who prefers the Kiel Center over the atmosphere generated at the old Arena. Some Cardinal fans may pine for the old days at Sportsman's Park. But the almighty dollar has corrupted the fan base and usurped the every-day Joe fan who used to be able to afford a game or two now and then.

But......if the crowd is like the crowd that attended the first forty-niners game this year where the streak came to an end, those of you unable to attend the games for one reason or another, beit a logistical or financial thing or you just couldn't get through on the internet, will be proud of your brethren at the game screaming their collective heads off. It was louder than hell at that game and it will be again.

These are the best of times and let's share them and cherish them and above all else let's bring home the Lombardi trophy.
