"In response to a post concerning the fact that our Pro Bowlers will be tougher to sign this year, STL Ram Fan offers a strikingly unusual perspective:"

This is great for the Rams.

Todd Lyght is good, no doubt about it. However, he is NOT irreplaceable and he IS pro-bowl caliber, when compared to the rest of the CBs in the NFC. That means his trade value is going to be pretty good.

Bly will need somewhere to start early to mid next year, and that sure looks like the opening that is needed.

Bly appears to be a dozen games or so from being a damned good CB (as good as McNeil at a MINIMUM).

I don't see Fred Miller or Todd Lyght on this team next year. If Jay Williams plays worth a damn this next two weeks, I'd begin to wonder if Carter was a necessity either. Not, of course, that I'm saying get rid of these players, just that it won't be devastating if they are not re-signed.

I'd expect the Rams to re-sign anyone willing to work with them, and reap the benefits of anyone wanting to leave.

The "core" of this team (other than Bruce), is signed already for 2 - 3 years, I believe.

Losing Carter and Lyght would be somewhat of a hit, but I don't feel it would be all that much.

Just my $.02 worth
