"WV Ram and O C Rich put the Eagle loss into perspective:"

by WV Ram (1/2)

1. I'm Happy....I'm very happy...almost to the point of 'celebrating'. Almost. First, because Warner survived. Second because Faulk left the game healthy. Third, because Bruce left the game healthy. Fourth, because Pace and Timmerman left the game healthy. Fifth because Farr, Agnew, Carter and Wistrom left healthy. Many playoff teams are not nearly so lucky as the rams have been this year in that dept.

2. Conwell ran with an awesome power/speed combination today. If he can learn to catch Warner's bullets, he can be a big factor in the playoffs.

3. The Rams triplets are awesome. Take one piece out though, and there is a Significant drop-off. The other "role" players excel mainly because Bruce and Faulk draw so much attention.

4. Holcombe is a mystery to me. You watch him on one play and he bulls over defenders and shows speed as well. And yet, on other plays, he looks like he is 'top-heavy' and easy to tip over. I don't know if he is the answer at fullback or not.

5. Az Hakim. Why is he laughing after he drops a big third down pass? Once again, I will say this -- I would not let him return a punt during the playoffs. The odds are greater that he will fumble it, than they are that he will break loose. I would not roll the dice when the Rams have so many other weapons.

6. One thing signals that a team is not "up" for a game, more than anything else, in my opinion, and that is -- missed tackles. I always look for that. Today the Rams were not "up" for anything, except getting individual records and sack records etc. Obviously, that is not the way to play this here game.

7. By the way, I think the Rams lost today. I'm not sure... I wasn't "up" for watching a meaningless game. I spent most of the time flipping around, watching all the "meaningful" games...guess I'm no better than the players...I missed Holt's last touchdown.

1. No need to panic. A win would have done nothing in terms of playoff seeding.

2. No major injuries.

3. Joe Germaine looked pretty good. He moved the team into scoring range.

4. Kickoff return coverage continues to be a weak spot. Going into the game they were #30 in the NFL. Today's game obviously didn't help.

5. I do not trust Robert Holcombe with the ball in the playoffs. He still hasn't learned to protect the ball.

6. The Ram play calling was VERY conservative today, especially when Warner was in the game. They hardly went downfield at all. I believe someone else had mentioned that Martz wasn't showing much, which may very well be the case.

7. Jeff Wilkins made a long field goal!!! We were joking at the bar that the shot he took might have literally snapped him out of his funk :).

8. The Eagles can really lay the wood. That's the hardest I've seen the Rams get hit all season. They could be a playoff contender in the not too distant future.

9. On the contrary the Rams' tackling was atrocious today.

10. The other board is going to get ugly the next 2 weeks. :(

There's no need to panic. Things have been so easy at times that this may give them a bit of a reality check. I look for the Rams to have a great week of practice heading into their first playoff game, and to take out their frustrations of this game on whomever their first opponent is.

as Hacksaw would say...REEEAAACTIONNNNN
