[You may remember that for several weeks the zine posted excellent game previews by DK COX THE COMMISH. DK taped every Rams game, and also taped games by upcoming opponents. He set aside some time during the week and watched both tapes, then wrote very detailed previews of the upcoming game. It was his hobby and his passion. The following two messages from his daughter explain why his previews have not appeared here for a while. DK was in an accident and is hospitalized. But DK is an irrepressible spirit, so even when hospitalized, he still indulges his passion for the Rams. We miss you, DK. Our sincere wishes for a speedy recovery, and all the best to you and your family. And thanks Ashley for two wonderful messages.]

A MESSAGE FROM ASHLEY COX (Dec 8)

My father, Dave Cox has been a fan since 1969. He says the horns are what caught his eye and has always said that the Rams horns symbolize the nature of fottball more than any other name possibly could. He has written to  everyone under several different nicknames. Some of you may have known him as the Football Nazi until he was the Commish.

My name is Ashley Cox. I am 15 and by right of passage have been a fan since day one due to my fathers fanaticism who had a Rams blanket around me for my  baby pictures in the hospital. Since he got the dish 3 years ago I haven't missed one game.

My father had asked me to write a letter and congratulate every one of the long suffering fans on the Rams NFC West championship. We cried with Dick Vermeil and alone after this weekend's game.

Since my father's accident I have taped the last several games and re-watch them with him in the hospital. I really enjoy watching the game over even more because he breaks down the game for me in slow motion with his laser pointer which teaches me something new every week. Tonight, we are going to break down the Rams first game against the Saints.

I woke up early this morning to write this letter at his request so he can share his excitement with you people who he had treasured sharing his thoughts with and listening to all of your thoughts. He wanted me to do this when he woke from the accident several days later and actually thinks I have been passing his thoughts along for the last couple of weeks but I was a little nervous about it. I plan on confessing to him tonight that I wrote my first letter to this list.

My mother, brothers & sister want to thank all of you for what you have meant to him over the last several years.

SECOND MESSAGE FROM ASHLEY COX (Dec 8)

Thank you for cheering Dad up. I want to thank those of you who passed along the kind words to my dad. It meant a lot to him (and the rest of us).  He has always been very active athletically & generally speaking,  which is the toughest part of seeing him so helpless.  I am not exaggerating when I say the Rams have played a very big part in getting him through this. Truthfully, I think the Rams have helped the entire family because it allows us to see him smile more often than he would like to.

It was a lot of fun for me listening to him break down the Saints game last night.  He says that the last game was a total spectrum between halves. He told me not to expect the Rams to look as tight as they did in the 1st half, nor will the Saints play so soft as they did in the 2nd half.  He says what the game will come down to is that a large number of the Saints players are going through the motions like many Rams teams of the 90s and under Rich Brookes.  I don't think the team will let down and try to win by just showing up like the Titans did last week against the Ravens.  Dad thinks the game will be under a 10 point win, but I see it being a blowout and the starters will be out early.

We've noticed this year that the list of  inactives had a lot to do with the Rams coaches expectations of the weekends games. If you see Cameron Spikes, Justin Watson and Lionel Barnes active, the Rams coaches are banking on a blowout.

I don't really understand all the formations & motions that happen before the ball is snapped but wonder why other teams don't spread the ball around like the Rams.  To me it looks like the field gets bigger when they go on offense.  My dad says it because they have a Arena league quarterback playing on the big American field as if he is on a Canadian field.

I've got to get out to the bus, but wanted to thank all of you for your kind words.  I printed them and took them to him last night and after reading them I asked if he wanted me to clean up & throw them out and he wouldn't let me.  I'm sure he read them again after I left last night.
