A number of posters share their feelings about what the board means to them. ScRam kicks things off with a wonderful history of the Herd's migration to the Rivals Rams Update board.

"The Great Herd Migration"

By ScRAM

First I became a Ram Fan in the mid-60s,living amongst Da Bear Fans mainly....I liked their uniforms then ol' Rosie Greer tackled Bobby Kennedy's killer-then I was hooked! (Plus I was never one to follow the crowd!)

I finally joined the cyber world in Oct. 98,I looked around for someplace to find info on my beloved Rams, I looked at all the regular places like ESPN, etc.....never even heard of message boards....then I found the one at NFLFANS....met a couple GREAT guys, Jim Beam & Ivanhoe...there was some others but they came & went...the Admin at the time was a guy called Doug B...Great guy too! But all at once, he disappeared...not sure where he went, never heard from him again..

Quartermaster came on, asked if anyone wanted the job...Beamer & Ivanhoe thought it should be me, while I actually wanted us all to become Cos. But me it was.....This was either late Feb or early Mar98....it wasn't gonna be a problem, it was just a small board, only averaged 12,000 to 15,000 views a month....to gather more info to talk about I started searching...found the PostNet board...greatly informed posters there! So I started info snipering, bringing the good stuff back here & posting it...that board moved way too fast for me & loaded way too slow!!!

Then it happened, the C-boys & 9ers were having a views war-see which board could get the most hits for Mar98. I seen this, wondered how many views they had & we had, seems like they had around 80,000 or 90,000....while we had bout 12,000...I remember posting we needed a few more posters...get our numbers respectable...but how??? Same day I saw the PostNet change...YUK & Double YUK!!!..Oh, well...but after watching all the posters there raise HELL about the change...without any response from the PostNet!!!!I thought, hum, wonder if they would want a place to post, where they would have a voice???

What the heck, I did it!! I posted, if you guys want a place to post, come over to the RamsBoard at NFLFANS.com....well being as I wasn't a regular poster, nobody paid much attention to me...But then there was GRITS, Champion against flamers, also an occasional poster at the RamsBoard, saw my post, It was like a light went on in his head! He said "Hey guys, this is ScRAM, Admin. of Ramsboard. Let's go!!!" I went to work that day, came home, logged on, 'bout fell out of my chair!!!! The board was full!!! I went to our Admin Board, and said, "Guys, You gotta see this!!!!"

I remember well Quartermaster saying "Your work has just started! You're gonna have to get some CoAdmin" So every night I came home from working 12 hours a day, read EVERY post, interviewing candidates even though they didn't know they were being interveiwed!LOL!!

1st there was Aries. He had helped me with some link problems. This guy obviously knew 'bout these 'puter things!)

Then 23--this guy's enthusiasm was infectious!!!

After that, it was Ramsrule. Don't remember many of his posts, but I really liked his confidence! After asking for some candidates, he E'-maile me and said he knew more about computers than anybody he knew. That's what I needed-another 'puter whiz!! But it wasn't til later I found out he was from No.Car.-where there was only 6 puters in the whole state!!! LOL!!!!! Just kidding!!

Lastly came HappyNoodleBoy. I just loved his posts! Picking theses guys,I couldn't have done better!!!!

After rounding up these guys, then the draft came. We had so many hits every time Rams picked it would almost melt the server down! I'm not sure if I ever told the board this, but we were the reason NFLFANS had to join Rivals: we just overloaded the server. It couldn't handle the charge of the Herd!

Since then, the Herd have become brothers to me. There's the smart brothers, the not-so-smart brothers-the high strung brothers-the laid back brothers-the fighting brothers-the peace making brothers-the optimistic brothers-the pessimistic brothers.....   but it takes us all to make the Herd!!!
