I'm not smacking the Rams. I believe we can win the game Sunday, in fact I believe we should beat them, and would go so far as to say that we PROBABLY will beat them. But... I have seen every one of the last 17 games between the Rams and 9ers. I was there in person at many of them - at Anaheim, at Busch Stadium (ouch - the day SOSAR was coined), and even at 3Com. I watched the despicable '97 home loss against a 9er team lacking Young and Rice, on a demo TV in a SoCal K-Mart (I snuck out of work, made up an excuse why I was gone 3 hours). I was at 3Com when Tony Banks came in on the half-foot line for his first NFL play, and the Rams lost that game 35-0. Real fun walking to my car, head to toe in Ram gear that day. I remember that game in '94 when Chris Miller and Young had a shoot-out at 3Com, and Crazy Legs Kinchen ran a 50+ yard reverse for a TD that looked like a punt return, and Deion Sanders knocked away a last second pass to Flipper that would have won the game for the Rams, but they came up just short. So like most of you reading this, I've taken my lumps for the past 9 years, every year thinking the streak would end THIS YEAR. But it never did. Will it end Sunday? Glory be, I hope so. It sure SHOULD end Sunday, shouldn't it? It should be the happiest day for Ram fans this decade. We should be partying it up on this board like never before on Sunday afternoon. Shouldn't we? As much as I think we could, should, and probably WILL beat the FREAKIN-9ERS on Sunday, October 10th, 1999... I'll believe it when I see it. PLAYOFFS IN '99!!! |
