The 1976 Team was in my opinion the best Rams team that I ever saw.  I have been a Rams fan since 69, so I can't comment on the 45 or 51 Championship teams. But any of you who go back at least to the early seventies should remember the 1976 team, because all the Ram greats like the Youngbloods, Olsen, Reynolds, Dryer, McCutcheon, Elmendorf, Jackson, Mack, Saul, Jessie, Perry, and gang were in their prime then.

With a devastating defense and probably the most potent Ram offense of the seventies, this team was 10-3-1 and beat the best teams in football at that time.  In fact they beat every divisional winner that year: AFC East Champs---Miami;  NFC East Champs---Dallas;  AFC Central Champs---Pittsburgh;  NFC Central Champs---Minnesota;  and the eventual Super Bowl winner, the AFC West Champs---Oakland!

If you all remember, Dallas, Miami, Pittsburgh, Oakland, Minnesota, & the Rams were the perrennial powers in those days, and we beat them all!

If it wasn't for those damn Vikings and that "phantom" procedure call on Tom Mack, we probably would have beaten Minnesota a second time in the playoffs, and chalked up number 2 on the Raiders in the big Bowl!

We didn't get no whiners about a "soft" schedule back then, I can tell you that!

The '76 team in my opinion was the 70's Rams at their best!

My Top Five---->

* 1976 Rams
* 1969 Rams
* 1989 Rams
* 1978 Rams
* 1975 Rams

HONORABLE MENTION: 1973 & 1979 (ironically, even though they went to the Super Bowl, the 79 team was the weakest of all the 70s Rams playoff teams).

TEAM IN WAITING: This '99 team is not qualified to be on this list yet, however, from what I have seen so far, it has all the earmarks of taking over the  Number 1 spot with an asterisk! And that asterisk would denote a World Chapionship!

So if this '99 team continues like it has, it will be far and away the best Ram team I have ever seen! And probably any of us has seen!

Keep the Faith! Go Rams!
