Kailuaram- A definitive moment for me this season was the 2nd half comeback against the
Titans.
After that first quarter and the thought of an embarrassing blow-out looming, I couldn't
help but go through the typical mental gymnastics one goes through when confronting a
painful situation.
Human beings have the ability to rationalize their pains and frustrations. and, that is
what I did.
"Okay, so we're not as good as I thought. We're not pitiful, right?"
"Warner, has finally come back to earth. But, he had a nice run
<sigh>."
"Hell, we still beat the Whiners!"
I tried to make myself feel better, but 10 yrs of losing leaves alot of scar tissue.
For every positive rationalization there were the same amount of negative ones....
"Damn it! here we go again."
"Same ole sorry @ss rams!"
by "stupid Georgia.... I hate her!"
But, things would change...
The defense shut the titan offense down allowing only a fg the rest of the way.
Warner and Faulk made big plays like they did in previous games.
"HEY, *THIS IS* REALLY SOMETHING SPECIAL"... I thought.
And when Wilkens missed that field goal? Yeah, I grabbed my head and winced, but I didn't
feel sick. I was remarkably pleased!
This team had made a statement. They came back!
"WE'VE GOT A TEAM HERE!"
I've never felt so pleased after a loss. EVER!
That was my defining moment.

"Warner's Lope"
by ZackNeruda
there are various ways to summarize the 90s season in a single image. I've got one, &
it's my favorite.
Close your eyes .
imagine this .
Rams have just received a punt or kick off. They huddle. They break huddle & go to the
line.
Now . Imagine Warner walking from the huddle to under center.
What do you see?
That nonchalant, slightly weary, no-big-deal droop shoulder lope of his.
San fRAM reminded me of it in a post and I have meant to post about it for a while.
The man has a lope. Each shoulder droops alternately step for step.
Lope. Lope. Lope. Yawn. 'nother scoring drive. Time to earn the paycheck.
Time to go to work.
Lope. Lope. Lope.
It gives the impression of someone who would not be rattled by a tank brigade.
"Tank brigade, huh? Hold on... hold on...I'm bringing up the anti-tank rockets."
Lope. Lope. Lope. |
