Duties
and Responsibilities of Cadets
Battalion
Commander:
Responsible to the Senior Army Instructor
for the
following:
-
Overall
supervision of the battalion
-
Designate
particular areas for inspection and/or supervision by members of the
staff
-
Thoroughly
familiar with appropriate drill regulations
-
Recommend
promotions and demotions
-
Recommend
job assignments and relief from job assignments
-
Inspects
work of staff officers
-
Corrects
uniform violations when observed
-
Presides
over officers call
-
Conduct
meetings when necessary
-
Accomplish
those things that are directed by the Army Instructors
Battalion
Executive Officer:
Responsible to the battalion commander for the following:
-
Assume
the responsibility of the battalion commander in his/her absence
-
Thoroughly
familiar with appropriate drill regulations
-
Recommend
promotions and demotions
-
Recommend
job assignments and relief from job assignments
-
Recommend
merits and demerits
-
Corrects
uniform violations when observed
-
Directs
and coordinates the battalion staff
-
Inspects
work of the battalion staff and makes other inspections as directed by
the battalion commander.
Battalion
Adjutant Officer:
Responsible to the battalion executive
officer for the following:

Prepare
all correspondence for the battalion
-
Publish
all orders pertaining to the battalion
-
Corrects
uniform violations when obverved
-
Maintain
and post JROTC student record card (2R form 91 & 91a)
Battalion
Security Officer:
Responsible to the battalion executive officer for the following:
-
Correct
uniform violations when observed
-
Insure
each cadet has an equipment receipt (DA Form 3749)
-
Keep
the arms storage facility neat, clean, and orderly
Battalion
Operation and Training Officer:
Responsible to the battalion executive officer for the following:
-
Prepares
weekly training schedule
-
Maintains
file of weekly training schedule and keeps current copy on bulletin
board
-
Corrects
uniform violations when observed
-
Provides
training data to S-1 for posting to JROTC cadet record card
-
Maintains
record of all extra curricular activities and provides to S-2 for
battalion history
-
Marks
parade field and maintains marking equipment
-
Plan
a drill meet between units of the battalion each semester
Battalion
Supply Officer:
Responsible
to the battalion executive officer for the following:
-
Assist
the Army Instructors with maintenance of the JROTC facilities
-
Assist
the Army Instructors in receiving, issuing, and inventory of uniforms
and supplies
-
Assist the Army Instructors in maintaining the
individual cadet clothing record
-
Insure the supply room is clean, neat, and orderly at
all times
-
Keep the Army Instructors informed of availability of
expendable supplies
-
Correct uniform violations when observed
Battalion Public Affair Officer:
Responsible
to the battalion executive officer for the following:
-
Keep the battalion informed of current, local, and
world events
-
Write news releases and reports JROTC news to local
and school newspapers
-
Keep bulletin board posted
-
Record the history of the battalion as it occurs
-
Maintain scapbook of all JROTC activities as published
in all news media
-
Correct uniform violations when observed
Battalion Command Sergeant Major:
Responsible
to the battalion commander for the following:
-
Insure
that a flag detail raises the school flag daily and that the detail
roster is posted on the bulletin board one week in advance
-
Be
thoroughly familiar with appropriate drill regulations
-
Insuring
that a battalion color guard is selected
-
Insuring
that the color guard equipment is properly cared for
-
Supervise
all first sergeants
-
Conduct
meetings with with NCO's when necessary
-
Correct
uniform violatons when observed
Company
Commander:
Responsible
to the battalion commander for the following:
-
The
training, discipline, and appearance of the cadets in the company
-
Provide
a flag detail on designated weeks
-
Recommend
job assignments or relief from job assignments
-
Recommend
promotions and demotions
-
Reporting
disciplinary problems to the battalion commander, without delay
-
Thoroughly
familiar with appropriate drill regulations
-
Make
weekly inspections of cadets in ranks, assisted by other company
officers
-
Correct
uniform violations when observed
-
Insure
that subordinate officers and NCO's are thoroughly familiar with
appropriate drill regulations
Company
Executive Officer:
Responsible
to the company commander for the following:
-
Assume
the responsibility of the company commander in his/her absence
-
Supervise
company administrations
-
Insure
company weapon assignments are kept current
-
Supervise
the issue and return of company weapons from the arms storage facility
-
Correct
uniform violations when observed
-
Thoroughly
familiar with appropriate drill regulations
-
Insures
the proper selection and training of the company guidon bearer
Company
First Sergeant:
Responsible
to the company commander for the following:
-
Coordination
with platoon sergeants for proper training and supervision of the flag
details
-
Take
reports at all company formations
-
Observe
the flag detail, morning and afternoon, at least twice a week
-
Report
observations to senior army instructor
-
Thoroughly
familiar with appropriate drill regulations
-
Ensure
that all JROTC areas are maintained in good state of police
Platoon
Leader:
Responsible
to the company commander for the following:
-
Thoroughly
familiar with apropriate drill regulations
-
Discipline
and appearance of assigned cades
-
Properly
train my assigned cadets in all phases of individual, squad, and
platoon drill
-
Provide
a flag detail on designeated days
-
Recommend
job assignments and relief from job assignements

Recommend
promotions and demotions

Correct
uniform violations when observed
Platoon
Sergeant:
Responsible
to the company commander for the following:

Assign
cadets to the flag detail
-
Conduct
of the platoon when in direct command
-
Insure
cadets are properly trained
-
Thoroughly
familiar with appropriate drill regulations

Observe
cadets performing flag detail; report findings to
platoon leader
-
Recommend promotions and demotions
-
Recommend job assignments and relief from job
assignments
Squad leader:
Responsible
to the platoon sergeant for the following:
-
Discipline
and appearance of the squad members
-
Insure
cadets are properly trained
-
Thoroughly
familiar with appropriate drill regulations
-
Insure
squad members are properly trained to perform flag detail
-
Supervise
your cadets when performing flag detail
-
Know
the names of your squad members at all times
-
Make
accurate report of absentees at platoon and company formations
-
Recommend promotions and demotions
-
Make
a weekly inspection of all cadets in squad
Squad:
Cadets that are not officers or noncommissioned officers are
responsible to the leaders (officers and noncommissioned officers) for the
following:
-
To
live up to the high standards to integrity, conduct, loyalty, and
personal appearance that is expected
-
To
conduct him/herself in a manner at all times that will reflect nothing
but the highest praise on this JROTC battalion and this school
-
To
obey all orders in a willing and cooperative manner
-
Maintain
and wear the entire cadet uniform immculately when required
-
Properly
safeguard and care for all equipment and material for which you are
responsible
-
Is
on time for all official formations requiring your presence
-
Is
thoroughly familiar with the contents of drill regulations
-
Is
prepared to assume the duties of the squad leader in his absence
