Jolly Roger Transmitters

The transmitter on the right is a Gates BC-250 and it can run up to 1000 watts on the AM broadcast band. Jolly Roger International only used it twice. The rack on the right is the rock crusher 4CX5000R linear amp. If we wanted to we could of run a lot more power on SSB but why bother, SSB SUCKS!!!

Anyone who heard this station in the clear will attest to the quality of the audio. The station used two antenna systems. The one use for the 41 meter band was a 1 X 6 curtain array. It was hung between 2 100 foot towers that were 1500 feet apart. The antenna had about 9 db of gain and it was broadside to the Northeast and Southwest. The antenna system use for frequencies above 11 mhz was a 12 element Log periodic that was mounted on one of the 100 foot tower. The antenna had about 7 db of gain.
