30: GREAT NEWS!!! L'Arc~en~Ciel will have a new single out called "READY STEADY GO" on February 4. Sounds like something Tetsu would write... Anyway, Silent Mukimpo and I can
hardly wait for it!!!
28: Happy Birthday, Ken! Recommended music on this great day: "The Best of L'Arc~en~Ciel 1994-1998" by L'Arc~en~Ciel.
27: Happy Thanksgiving, everybody! I haven't been bothering with updates recently because I've been sick. However, I do wish Yukky and Ken the best on their birthdays this month.
In the L'Arc~en~Ciel official site, there's been news regarding the members' solo works. The details of Hyde's upcoming solo tour next year have been provided, as
well as mention of an upcoming Danger Crue live (on December 26) which will include three out of the four L'Arc~en~Ciel members: TETSU69, acid android, and S.O.A.P.
24: Happy Birthday, Yukky! Recommended music on this great day: "ectomorphed works" by L'Arc~en~Ciel.
14: I finally got Hyde's new single and S.O.A.P.'s DVD. Let's start with Hyde. I didn't mind "Horizon," but I thought his cover of
the Beatles' classic, "Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds," was creepy! His voice is just not cut out for that song. Give me Mr. Children's
Kazutoshi Sakurai covering classic tunes any day! But the modern rock take on the song was fine.
As for S.O.A.P.'s DVD, Silent Mukimpo was very disappointed over it since he had had high hopes of seeing the performances of either Hyde or
acid android included in the concert. He supposes that label differences prevented this, but he was not too happy watching only S.O.A.P. (a band he doesn't
like anyway!). Well, the DVD was labeled "S.O.A.P.," hahahahaha.
01: The Strokes concert I attended, on October 30, was great! It reminded me why I love that band! Not only
are they a local New York city band, but they're a riot! I've been so busy, I only bought their new album, "Room on Fire,"
that evening! So I had so many songs to learn and so little time. I was even late coming, so I missed most of the
first opening act's show (Regina Spektor). I honestly don't understand what the big deal is with Kings of Leon (the second opening act).
I found them boring. They sounded more country than retro, in my opinion.
But the Strokes were superb! Obviously, they sang mostly their new material, but they also performed their "classic" hits, such
as "Alone, Together" (my favorite!), "Someday," "Soma," "The Modern Age," and "Take It Or Leave It," the latter being their usual exit
tune, but this time Julian performed a duet with Regina Spektor as the final performance. It could have been performed better, but
the music was excellent! A great show. The Strokes also made the cover of Rolling Stone magazine, so hats off to them! Their interview is
so funny, it's refreshing!
