Rom Pool, in the Israeli-occupied Golan Heights, is used by the Syrian farmersto irrigate their apple and cherry crops, for which the region is famous. Israel seized the Golan Heights from Syria in the Six-Day War of 1967.
A Syrian mosque in the Israeli-occupied Golan Heights that was demolished in the Six-Day War. Israel destroyed 12 of 17 Syrian villages in the region during the war and then captured the area. Today, Syrians living in the remaining villages in the Golan Heights are full citizens of neither Syria nor Israel.
