11 May 2002 - Rachael has been nominated for a Mo Award. She was also nominated for a Green Room Award and Helpmann Award but did not win. So she now has four award nominations at least. We hope she wins a Mo Award. She deserves it.
The very successful Adelaide season of Singin' In The Rain finished on May 4th. It is now moving to Perth. And then, it will do an Asian tour, going to Singapore and Hong Kong. Dates to be announced.
22 April 2002 - Note: This news section hasn't been updated for a few months, so I will now update it.
Rachael is still staring in Singin' In The Rain which is currently playing at the Festival Theatre in Adelaide. Due to Rachael's car accident, she is still not performing eight times a week. I think she performs only for one performance of two on a Wednesday or Saturday. She was on the first Saturday matinee of the season, but she wasn't on the second Saturday matinee. I will post more news early next month, as I going to see the matinee performance on the final day in Adelaide on May 4th.
The Adelaide Season is running until May 4th. No more extensions possible. There have been two extensions. The Adelaide Season has been one of the most successful and best audiences, according to the various cast members. Only two weeks to go till the end of the season and there is hardly any seats left!
Following Adelaide, it will head to Perth and play at the Burswood Theatre from May 16th. There is still no word yet whether the proposed Asian Tour will go ahead.
There is also no news as to what Rachael's next project is as Singin' In The Rain finishes in June. Perhaps Rachael will appear in the upcoming Adelaide Cabaret Festival in mid June. I hope so! Or she may have a well deserved rest for a little while. But since has finally given her the recogninition and fame she deserves, she may projects being offered to her. Who knows? We will to hold our breathes and see what Rachael's next project is.
04 February 2002 - Rachael was in a car accident last weekend. According to the report in the Sunday Mail, Rachael was driving in Melbourne by herself when a car ran straight into the driver's side at top speed. The injury reported is a leg injury. She is recovering in her home town, Byron Bay, with her parents. She will unfortunely miss the Brisbane opening of Singin' In The Rain. But she will be back treading the boards most definitely in the Adelaide season. She will have made a full recovery. She was also due to sing at The Advertiser/Sunday Mail Foundation lunch next Tuesday, but due to her injury, she will be replaced by Singin' In The Rain co-star, Wayne Scott-Kermond.
The Adelaide Season of Singin' In The Rain is being extended. I don't know the dates at the moment, but I will update this in the next weeks. Because of the very strong ticket sales of Singin' In The Rain, the season will be extended. Tickets for the extension are on sale from today.
The Melbourne Season closed after a very successful run. It is now travelling up to Brisbane. Following which, it will head to Adelaide and Perth. There is also possibility of an Asian tour.
This Thursday is the priemere of the Nine Network Reality Program, Marry Me, which is about real-life proposals. One of the proposals is at a performance of Singin' In The Rain. Be sure to watch for it! Also, Brisbane viewers, watch out for The Makin' of Singin' In The Rain on the Nine Network
10 January 2002 - Brisbane viewers, keep an eye out of channel nine over the next month. The Makin' Of Singin' In The Rain should be on. It is a not-to-missed special. It is a half-an-hour special all about the pre-show preparations and the opening night. In Sydney and Melbourne, it has been shown on a Sunday afternoon. On the special, they also talk to the cast and crew behind the scenes. They show various sections from the show (not completely, mind you!). Also, keep an eye out on the news in Brisbane for items about the show.
I've been seeing an advert a few times for a new show on Channel Nine which is priemering in Feburary to do with marriage proposals. I am 99.99% sure that one of the proposals they showed on the advert happened in the curtain call of Singin' In The Rain at the Regent Theatre. So I am sure Rachael will appear on it. It will also most probably meaning to get to see behind the scenes at the theatre and seeing some parts of the show.
