United We Bargain...Divided We Beg

UNION GRIEVANCE COMMITTEE MEETING

The union and company met over the letter of agreement that delt with outside contractors.Like hours and same day work as contractors, not man to man and different day being offered to avoid premium pay.Capital projects and new construction are the only things that don't fall under the agreement. Mr Bruce Langley, who was the HR VP for Calaveras when the agreement was written agreed on all points that the union has grieved over.Even when union people are on days off, if contractors are doing "their" jobs then they should be called out to work or asked to work. The company would only except the like hours and Capital projects part of it for now and would like time to think about the " days off / offered to work" They also want to label Refractory work(bricking the kiln and tower)as a production project an would not have to offer like hours to laborers and maintance people even if their sub-contractors are doing welding and labor work. The company has scheduled a meeting for Jan 25th 2000 so stay tuned for more info, In the meantime Jeff Peterson, new maintance manager will offer like hours to those people who are on days off while contractors are on site to work without precident or prejudice Present for the company were Zale Asbell, Dave Salsbourne, Roger Zeltman, all Calaveras VP's Jeff Petterson Tom Brady, HR, Tehachapi and Ed Wattamaniuck plant manager. For the union Jack Hammond PACE IR, Jamie McKay, Dave Backes, John Church and Todd Crowell
