Megaman Tips and Tricks

Tips and Tactics

Power Fighters 2 Mega with Rush and Beat Megaman - The world-famous "Select Trick". In the original game, the select button pauses the game, leaving the weapon shot exactly where it was, and the only animation that continues is the "flashing" that show that a boss has taken damage. Pause the game when the weapon shot hits the boss and wait for the "flashing" to stop. Unpause and immediately repause the game, and continue on like this. You can kill a boss with only 2 or 3 shots and take a whole lot less damage yourself.

Megaman 2 - Woodman is invincible when using his Leaf Shield, except to the Crash Bomb. If the bomb misses a leaf, it will pass through and hit once. If it hits a leaf, it will explode and the explosions will hit multiple times.

On a similar note, try luring Flashman into a corner and latch a Crash Bomb on the wall. As it explodes, it can hit him about 3 times if he stays in place.

The fourth Dr. Wily stage is laced with holographic floors. To spot floors that aren't real, use the Bubble Lead.

For the boss of this stage, when they all fire at once, try pausing and unpausing the game. The bullets will pass right through Megaman. Megaman: the Power Battle

While jumping across long gaps, try pausing the game continuously. It extends the length of the jump, but works best when started at the zenith of the jump and when the goal is lower than the starting point of the jump.

Use the above trick at the beginning of the final stage to fall to the right. Then, keep running through the cave without stopping. You should get through the dripping acid unharmed.

Try using the Leaf Shield in areas where enemies will keep coming and coming. Lots of power-ups and even 1-ups will be left behind.

After selecting which Robot Master you want to take on, hold A and B down. The intro animation, usually against a starfield, will be full of little birds instead of stars.

Various Megaman poses Megaman 3 - This game is full of bugs. Pressing right on the second controller will allow Megaman to super-jump, propelling him higher than using the Rush Coil.

Holding up on controller 2 will cause all animation to go into "slow-motion." Movement will continue at the same rate, but the animation will be slowed. This may present a problem, as enemies will advance at the same speed as before, but Megaman will not move until he stops the "leaning foward" animation and begins to run. This can be used along with the super-jump by holding up and right.

Just as a boss fight begins, hold up and press A on controller 2. This will freeze everything. You will be able to shoot and jump up. Kill the boss while he is frozen. (cheat cheat cheat)

While doing the super-jump trick, you cannot die in pits. Also, if an enemy moves across the top of the screen while Megaman is hiding in a pit, Megaman will take damage. If his energy meter runs out, he will be completely impervious to damage. He cannot fire his arm cannon, though, and it ends if he picks up any energy pellets.

Using the Super-jump technique, before the Protoman encounter in Geminiman's stage, slide into the area where Protoman will beam down and before the slide ends, super-jump through the platform he will stand on. You will hear the entire Protoman intro music, but nothing after that. Also, a lot of weird things will happen. Try it and see.

Megaman 4 - The Ring Boomerang, although not too effective against Skullman, will penetrate the Skull Barrier. Megaman: the Power Battle

To get the Energy Tank at the end of the third Dr. Cassock stage, use the Baloon and slide through the tiny opening. Do not grab the can and slide back before standing up, though. You could instantly blow up.

Beleive it or not, the Wire can be used as a weapon. When fighting Dr. W in his skull contraption, stand directly under him when the armor is blown off. Extend the wire when standing directly under the sensitive point in the vehicle. The Wire uses 2 cells of energy and only inflicts 1 cell of damage.

Megaman 5 - Use Beat to kill Dr. W at the end. He will do all the work while you just worry about staying alive.

Power Battles 2 Megaman 7 - Auto's missing Mega-bolt is in Springman's stage. In the large spring room, up and to the left, some spring-loaded jack-in-the-boxes can change direction when you jump on them. One will be near a piece of wall that looks slightly different. Jump on the box so that the jack-in-the-box will punch through it. The Bolt is inside.

If you meet up with Protoman in area of the stages in a certain order, he will reward you with his invincible Protoshield! (After a brief contest between the brothers, of course.) See him in Cloudman's stage, then Turboman's, and lastly in Shademan's house.

In Shademan's stage, there are two possible routes. When fighting the large Pumpkin-bot, kill the tiny pumpkin inside to have the floor collapse and go down. Kill the Pumpkin-bot by blasting it between the eyes and you will advance forward.

The Thunder Bolt activates certain machines in Junkman's stage. Look for a circuit box-looking thingie.

When fighting the Gutsman abomination, he will sometimes bring down large boulders and shove them towards you. Hit them with the Slash Claw before he touches them and they will ram into him. Nice damage.

Maverick Hunter Zero Megaman X - In Armored Armadillo's sage, jump off the first wagon. Keep killing the fat bubble bat and it will leave behind 1-ups.

After you have found all 4 Sub-tanks, all 8 Heart-tanks, 4 enhancements, and have all weapons, revisit Armadillo's place and get a few 1-ups from the bat. Collect the power-up at the end of the stage after the wagon ride. Throw yourself in the pit and die. Keep doing this, and on the fifth time, you will find Dr. Light in a capsule wearing a gi. He will teach X Ryu's Ha-Dou-Ken!

Megaman X2 - In Bubble Crab, Crystal Sanil, and Overdrive Ostrich stages, using the Infra-red Tracer (helmet enhancemant) will reveal some empty rooms. In those empty rooms, use the Silk Shot, powered up with the X-Buster. Instead of collecting garbage for a huge projectile, the weapon will collect power-ups!

Again, for this you need everything. 4 Sub-tanks (all full. The above tip may help with that), 8 Heart-tanks, 4 Enhancements, and all weapons. In the third leg of the X-Hunters' stage, there comes a part where you can go down a ladder to finish the stage, or climb a seemingly out of reach ladder. Use the Crystal Hunter to freeze a bubble bat so you can climb the ladder. Get through the obstacle course by using your weapons cleverly (air dashing, Speed Burner, Strike chain, and Crystal Hunter) and slide down the left wall on the long drop after that. Then, if your life meter and Sub-tanks are full, you will encounter a room with Dr. Light in a capsule that will give you Ken's flaming Shoryuken!

zero Megaman 8 Pic. Megaman X3 - The second Dr. Doppler stage is just full of surprises. If you have found Vile's hidden stage(not too hard to find) and defeated Vile once before, the stage will be smashed and the enemies weaker. Vile will be the boss. If not, the stage will be filled with stronger enemies, including a bee half-boss and a sea monster instead of Vile.

In this same stage, if you have everything, (4 enhancements, 4 Sub-tanks, (all full) 8 Heart-tanks, 4 ride armors, all weapons, but NOT one of the enhancement chips!), in part with the falling spiked balls, slide down the first pit, clinging to the left side. There will be a capsule with Dr. Light, who will give X an enhancement chip that will upgrade ALL his parts! Plus, it will turn his armor a shiny gold color.

Also in this stage, if you have not defeated Vile, switch to Zero before fighting the bee half-boss. Defeat it, and it will crash into Zero, rendering him almost dead. He will then pass on his Beam-Saber to Megaman X!
