The Final Exam is tentatively scheduled for Tuesday, December 17th, from 7:45 to 9:45 a.m.

Notes:

  1. All references in this schedule to the word “CHAPTER” refers to the following text: Shelly, Cashman, and Vermaat. Discovering Computers 2002  - Concepts for a Digital World – Web Enhanced.

All references in this schedule to the word “TUTORIAL” refers to the following text: Shaffer, Carey, Finnegan, Adamski, Zimmerman, et al. Microsoft New Perspectives on Microsoft Office XP - Brief. Course Technology - International Thompson Publishing, 2002.

  2. Some exercises / assignments in the textbook Microsoft New Perspectives on Microsoft Office XP - Brief require files found on “Data Disk”.  You may obtain a copy of these files via the Public Folders on the Mt. San Jacinto Community College Intranet [Public Directories Icon on the Desktop – then Ron Lehr Folder – then CSIS101 Folder]; or at www.course.com (the Course Technology Web site - See inside back cover for additional information); or directly from me.

  3. Homework will include both written assignments as well as computer lab projects and assignments. Before turning-in the assignments outlined in the schedule, you must complete the computer steps contained in the project. (Dont just read the project and then go to the exercises.)

All homework is due at the beginning of the class meeting on the due date shown in the schedule or given to the class verbally.

  4. All homework / extra credit must be done in Office XP (not hand-written) and have a cover page showing: CSIS-101; Class Code 0622; your name; the Tutorial Number; the assignment title and number; the assignment page; and the assignment due date (see sample cover page and sample extra credit cover page below).

Staple your cover page to your work.

    [
Assignments from the same Unit, due the same date should be combined on one cover page.]

  5. Preparation and participation are very important in business and in this class.  Preparation means reading the material and keeping-up with the homework assignments.  Non-participation includes: distracting or disturbing other students; or working on non-class activities during class. If you prepare and participate in every class meeting for the semester, you will receive a 3% bonus at the end of the semester.  If you miss participating in only one class meeting, you will receive a 2% bonus.  It is in your best interest to earn this bonus to help your grade.

  6. There are three hands-on exams in this class. They are designed to test how well you can perform various word processing, spreadsheet and database features. They will be open book and open notes.

  7. The Final Exam will cover all material reviewed in the class from the text: Discovering Computers 2002 - Concepts for a Digital World – Web Enhanced only. It will consist of 100 multiple choice questions.

  8. On tests and homework, maximum credit is earned by: following all directions and instructions; by producing a document which is professional in appearance; and by correcting grammatical errors, misspellings, or incorrectly used words.

  9. All attempts will be made to follow this schedule as outlined. However, circumstances may require changes in the schedule for any given class meeting.
