Personal Profile General Instructions:

(See specific instructions below.)

(See sample by clicking here.) [You must have Word to view sample]

Create a short one-page profile of yourself using no less and no more than four (4) paragraphs:

1st. Paragraph:       Write something about yourself.
Four or five sentences – not a book!

2nd. Paragraph:  Explain why you are taking this course (CSIS-101 or CAPP-120A). Again, four or five sentences – not a book.

3rd. Paragraph:   Explain if you have access to a computer off-campus (your own, parents, friend, relative, neighbor, etc.).

If so, write some specifications about the computer. [I may be able to offer advise to you.] (Click here for sample specification data.) [You must have Word to view sample]

If not, answer if you are considering buying or leasing a computer – and what kind (specification wise). [I may be able to offer advise to you.]

4th. Paragraph:     Briefly write anything you care to regarding our class – suggestions, criticisms, complaints, positive things, - anything. But be brief and not something like: “I think it’s wrong that we have to do homework in this class.”

Personal Profile Specific Instructions:

  1. Single-spaced – NOT DOUBLE-SPACED.

  1. Use “Block Style”.  This means that each line in each paragraph is flush to the left border and jagged on the right border.  The first line of the paragraph IS NOT indented.  A single blank line separates paragraphs.

  1. Use a short document heading – centered – for your name and class/section #. Nothing else in the heading.

  1. Use only Word 2000 for this assignment – you will be working on it in class at a future time.

  1. Use the default Word settings: default margins, font (Times New Roman), font size (12 points), etc.

  1. Use the special feature in Word to Fully Indent the 2nd paragraph one-half inch. (ONLY the second paragraph and ONLY ˝ inch.)

  1. Pick any word, phrase or sentence and make it bold.  (Do NOT pick an entire paragraph!)

  1. Pick any other word, phrase or sentence and make it italics. (Do NOT pick an entire paragraph!)

  1. Pick any other word, phrase or sentence and make it underlined. (Do NOT pick an entire paragraph!)

  1. Do NOT exceed one page. (It shouldn’t even come close to one page or you are writing too much.)

  1. This assignment does not require a cover page. You will receive a folder to turn it in. I will be the only person to read it after you turn it in to me.

  1. This is considered the First Draft and worth 80 points.  The Second Draft will be formatted – that is, you will add ClipArt, WordArt, Fancy Fonts and Font Sizes, Drop Caps, Animation, Sound, Hyperlinks, Photos, etc. – whatever you want.  The second draft will increase the points to 100; plus possible extra credit [10 points max] for including Animation, Sound, Hyperlinks, and/or Photos.

(See sample of second draft by clicking here.)
