| About Norway - Trolls | ||||||||||||
| From old days strange things have happend in Norway. People have seen odd shapes outside at nights, things have dissappeard or been moved in mysterious ways. With no resonnable explanation crops and herds have been lost. Odd shapet rock formations indicates that something is out there... And there is. The Trolls! The trolls are creatures in all sizes from small fist size to large hills. Formations in the nature show signs of the trolls. Mountains formed as a seat or showing signs of figths. All this together with the lively imagination Norwegians are blessed with made the basis for the many tales about the trolls. In addition of being good entertainment, the stories also provided a moralic lesson. A typical troll are kind of slow, large and not very smart. They are out at nighttime, and if they haven't gone into hiding again by dawn, they would explode or turn into stone when exposed to sunlight. The small souvenir trolls you can buy today are not very found of sunlight either, so take good care of them and place them in the shadow. Along with the trolls, the tales are full of hulders, beautiful female creatures that looked like girls, but were revealed by the tail they had. The hulders called on boys and young men alone out in the woods and dragged them into the mountains, were they got caugth and never let out again. |
