QVSC Athletes Attend Speed Camps
Several members of our club participated in various speed camps in the mountains.  These camps are designed to give athletes exposure to the high speed events of ski racing (Downhill and Super G).  Allysen Reed traveled to the Okanogan Zone in British Columbia to participated in the speed camp held at Apex Mountain.  Kara Delaney took part in the CSCF speed camp with the Sask Juvenile Team at Silver Star in B.C.  This camp is hosted by the Canadian Ski Coaches Federation and features former coaches of the Canadian National Ski Team.  Sask Alpine also sponsored an opportunity for K1 (11-12 years old) athletes to take part in this excellent camp.  K1's from our club were Yolandi Lombard and Brittany Mooney.

Nancy Greene Ski League Has First Race
Qu'Appelle Valley Ski Club's N.G.S.L. members had their first competition of the season at Table Mountain.  We were unable to field a complete team to be eligible for any awards, however, those that did participate had a great time and raced very well.

Hollinger Sweeps GS at Ochapowace

The Giant Slalom courses at Ochapowace Ski Area were very much to Rachelle Hollinger's liking as she raced her way to top spot in both women's events.  The Simmons sisters followed closely each day with Amber taking second on Saturday and third on Sunday while Brittany took second place on Sunday, completing the Sunday J1/J2 Women's GS sweep for QVSC.  These races were co-hosted by the Ochapowace Ski Club and our own club.

Awards

Thanks to the QVSC executive for taking the initiative to spearhead getting this race weekend happening at Ochapowace so all Saskatchewan athletes would have another opportunity to compete in a GS race.  Following is the list of QVSC medal and ribbon recipients for both days.

McDougall Wins Snowboarding Event
Darcy McDougall was unbeatable in the snowboard races at the Nancy Greene Ski League races held at White Track Ski Area.  Darcy defeated all challengers to lead QVSC's Snowboarding Team (all one of them!) to victory.  Congratulations Darcy!!
Twenty-one members of the QVSC Nancy Greene Alpine Team participated in the dual team races and were led by coach John McNally.  Unfortunately we once again did not meet all requirements to field a complete team in all age categories so were ineligible for any awards, however, it was evident that QVSC was among the best!
