QVSC Trains in British Columbia
Panorama, B.C. was the site for members of the Alpine Race Team and some members of the Development Team for training prior to the GS races to be held there on Jan. 5-6, 2001. Kirk and Cory Cochrane had the athletes training gates for the first time this season on Showoff run at Panorama. On the first day we trained on the upper half of Showoff, the run to be used for the race, and on the second day we trained on the lower half of the run. Everyone training there was very cooperative so the athletes were able to run courses each day from top to bottom. Overall, the training was excellent!

The competitive season for the Sask Alpine Race Series kicked off in Panorama with two GS races. Sask Alpine was the host for these races that were attended by many Alberta and B.C. racers as well as the contingent from Saskatchewan. Accolades must go to Wayne Simpson of Prince Albert for bringing this race together and making it the tremendous success it was. Thank you Wayne!

Brittany Simmons, a first year J1 athlete topped the field both days at the Panorama GS races. This was an excellent result for Britt as there were a lot of very strong competitors from B.C. clubs. Congrats Brittany!

There were two sets of awards presented to the athletes in each category for these two races - one set to all competitors and another set to Saskatchewan only athletes. Following are the top 15 results for our QVSC racers:
