Amber Simmons Sweeps Slalom Overall Awards
Qu'Appelle Valley Ski Club's own Amber Simmons once again
proved she is the most dominant female slalom racer in the province by being the
fastest woman today at Table Mountain, site of the final slalom race for the
1999/2000 Sask Cup Race Series. This marked the seventh consecutive time
Amber has won the overall award in a Sask Cup Race Series Slalom - that's every
slalom this year! Awesome skiing Amber!!
It was another great day for the QVSC Alpine Race and Development Teams as they
picked up a lot more points for our club along with many medals. Winning GOLD
medals were: Amber Simmons - J1/J2 Women, Brittany Simmons -
K2 Women and Kenton Hamilton - K1 Men. SILVER
medals went to: Rachelle Hollinger for J1/J2 Women, Ryan Cochrane for
J1/J2 Men, Allysen Reed for K2 Women, Joel Taylor for K2 Men, Natasja
Lombard for K1 Women and Aaron Fenwick for K1 Men. Completing
the medal haul for QVSC with BRONZE
were Ashley Hall in J1/J2 Women and Kara Delaney in K1 Women.

Hamilton and Simmons Sisters Provincial Champs
The first two days at Table Mountain were the Provincial Slalom
Championships. Saskatchewan's slalom winners were determined by calculating each athletes three
best runs from the previous two days of racing. Sask Alpine sponsored
beautiful engraved glass plates for each category on the Sask Cup circuit.
QVSC athletes collected
three of the six plates - Kenton Hamilton for K1 Men, Brittany Simmons
for K2 Women and Amber Simmons for J1/J2 Women.

FOR Q.V.S.C.
The annual Alpine Saskatchewan Awards banquet in North Battleford was
the site for Qu'Appelle Valley Ski Club to be presented with the Sask Cup Race
Series Club Championship plaque. This marked an unprecedented sixth
consecutive club championship for Q.V.S.C.! Sask Alpine president, Gary
Delaney presented the plaque to coaches Kirk and Cory Cochrane who then called
all QVSC athletes on stage to share in the moment.
Athletes Honoured At Provincial Awards
Banquet
Battlefords Ski Club hosted this year's Alpine Saskatchewan Awards
Banquet in North Battleford. The awards for the Sask Cup Race Series were
presented by Gary Delaney, president of Sask Alpine, to the top three athletes
in each of the six categories. These awards were determined by using
points from the whole Sask Cup season (4 GS races, 7 SL races). Each
athletes total was obtained by totaling points from their best two GS races
added to their next five best results. Once the tabulations were complete,
the following QVSC athletes were honoured:
