Medal Haul For QVSC Continues
Ochapowace Ski Area was the site for this three day Sask Cup Race weekend hosted by the Regina Ski Club.  Friday and Saturday were the last two GS races for the Sask Cup circuit and Sunday had a very challenging slalom race.  Once again the Qu'Appelle Valley Ski Club racers presented themselves very well, taking home the majority of points and medals.  Amber Simmons managed to sweep all three races for the J1/J2 Women and won two of the Overall awards, while Brittany Simmons took home the other Overall award, to go with her two gold and one silver in the K2 women's category.  Other QVSC female athletes who had impressive results and took away medals all three days were;  Kara Delaney with two gold and one silver for K1 women, Allysen Reed with two bronze and one gold in K2 women.
Once again the K1 men's division was swept by QVSC athletes all three days with
Brady Achtymichuk taking away both GS golds and a silver in slalom.  Kenton Hamilton garnered gold in the slalom and silver in each GS race while Aaron Fenwick took the bronze all three days.  Not to be outdone by the K1 men, our K2 men put forth an exceptional effort with Joel Taylor leading the way capturing two gold and one silver, while Darsey Godwin was very steady, coming away with the bronze medal in all three races.
QVSC's depth in the J1/J2 women's category showed through as there was a QVSC sweep of medals all three days.  If any one athlete in this category had an off day, another one of our competitors stepped up to claim the medal for QVSC.  All QVSC medal winners for each day follow:

Provincial Championship For Lombard
Yolandi Lombard captured the
GOLD medal at the Provincial J4 (10 and under) Championships held at Twin Towers Ski Area.  This marks the second consecutive year Yolandi has earned this honour!  Also doing a remarkable job representing our club was Brittany Mooney, who placed a very close second to capture the SILVER medal.  The only representative from our club in the boy's category was Gustav Dippenaar, who placed very well among a very strong group of athletes from throughout the province.  Well done to all three!

QVSC Goes To Provincial Final
Eleven members of the Qu'Appelle Valley Nancy Greene Ski League traveled to Twin Towers to compete in the NGSL Provincial Final.  Although our numbers were small and we could not field a complete team, the competitors represented our club very well.  John McNally and Kate Grapes coached our racers to some very fast runs and a great time was had by all.
