January 2-3, 1999
Great Results to Begin Race Season
The first two days of racing in the 1999 Sask Cup Race Series were held at Panorama, B.C. Medals were awarded for both Saskatchewn racers only and all competitors. These two Giant Slalom races resulted in several medals for our club's athletes.
Saturday's results:
In the J4 (10 and under) Ladies category, Yolandi Lombard won gold;
J3(11+12 years old)Ladies - Danielle Kormeyer won silver for Sask. and bronze overall;
J2(13+14)Ladies - Brittany Simmons won gold for Sask. and bronze overall, Rachelle Hollinger won silver for Sask;
J1(15-18)Ladies - Amber Simmons won bronze for Sask;
J3 Men - Joel Taylor won gold for Sask. and silver overall, Aaron Fenwick won silver for Sask;
J1 Men - Ryan Cochrane won gold for Sask. and gold overall.
Sunday's results:
J4 Ladies - Yolandi Lombard once again came away with the gold;
J3 Ladies - Danielle Kortmeyer silver for Sask;
J2 Ladies - Brittany Simmons gold for Sask, Rachelle Hollinger silver for Sask;
J1 Ladies - Pamela Hollinger silver for Sask, Ashley Hall bronze for Sask;
J3 Men - Joel Taylor gold for Sask. and gold overall.

January 23-24, 1999
Boake Dominates at Timber Ridge
Sarah Boake, a second year J2, received the Overall Ladies awards for both days of slalom racing at Timber Ridge Ski Area. This was the first slalom weekend of the Sask Cup Race Series and was hosted by the Prince Albert Ski Club. Our athletes showed why QVSC is #1 by posting impressive results in all categories.

J2 Women - Sarah Boake gold and OVERALL, Brittany Simmons silver, Chelsea Hamilton bronze;

J1 Men - Ryan Ottenbreit bronze.

January 31, 1999
First Race Action for Nancy Greeners
All skill levels of the Nancy Greene Ski League were well represented at this FUN intraclub race. This day is intended to give those who have not yet participated at a provincial N.G.S.L. race an opportunity to find out what it is like. A dual race course was set and the NGSL coaches sent the racers through the course against another athlete of similar ability. Each participant raced through each side of the course, skiing their best to try and beat the one next to them. Throughout the day, one could see every young racer's confidence grow as they attacked the course more aggresively with each new run.

February 1-5, 1999
Juveniles Off To Speed Camp
Qu'Appelle Valley Ski Club's representatives on the Provincial Juvenile Team, Joel Taylor, Brittany Simmons and Danielle Kortmeyer, participated at the Speed Camp at Silver Star Mountain, near Vernon, B.C., inorder to enhance their skills for the speed events of ski racing - Super Giant Slalom and Downhill. They attended with the provincial juvenile coach, Leann Zahn, and were fortunate to have Gord Brown, Program Director of the Canadian Ski Coaches Federation, acting as Head Coach for this camp.

QVSC Hosts Sask Cup Races
Mission Ridge Ski Area was the site of this weekends Sask Cup Race Series slalom competition. A majority of the club's parents put in a very strong effort to make the weekend a resounding success. QVSC extends their thanks to the staff and management at Mission Ridge for their co-operation with our club for this race and to everyone else from other clubs who helped out in any way. Once again, our athletes came through and performed to the best of their ability to help QVSC increase it's lead in the Sask Cup Race Series.

February 20-21, 1999
Rare Occurance at Table Mountain
Battlefords Ski Club was the host for two slalom races which produced a rarity in the world of ski racing. Saturday saw Ashley Hall and Rachelle Hollinger finish in a dead heat ahead of all other competitors after two runs of slalom racing! Sunday brough two more overall awards to QVSC athletes. Ryan Cochrane, testing his ankle after recouperating from a nagging sprain that had him out of racing for a few weeks, won the overall award for men, while Pamela Hollinger won the first overall award of her career. The last weekend of slalom racing for this year's Sask Cup circuit produced many other medals for QVSC.
