**
Important notice for Alpine Race Team members**
Effective February 5, 2000 (Blackstrap races) all athletes will be required to wear a helmet for all Sask Cup Slalom Races. The helmet must provide protection for the back and sides of the head. Once this rule is in effect, QVSC will be making helmets mandatory for all training as well. In the meantime, athletes are strongly encouraged to get and wear an approved helmet. A concussion is a very serious injury, yet it is also very preventable, so don't let a stupid injury such as this get keep you from racing.

Plans for the mountain mileage camp are coming together - we will be staying at the Banff International Hostel and will be skiing at different areas during the week, wherever the snow is best, and the price is reasonable!

Now is the time to start thinking about the GS races in Panorama. Entries must be sent in before we leave on the mountain camp, so if you are planning to attend you need to let Kirk know ASAP. All Alpine Race Team members will be contacted soon. One volunteer worker is needed for every two competitors, so let's show how great QVSC is and supply the race with plenty of volunteers - remember, these races are for your children and they will not happen without your help and support.

Gary Delaney and Kirk Cochrane have returned from the CSIA update seminar. It was an excellent course and both feel they learned a lot and will be passing on the new approaches in skiing to the other coaches and they are looking forward to using some interesting new drills to the members at the mountain mileage camp.
