updates on my life

whoa.  i can't believe i'm completely done first year!  i'm back home already - just got back yesterday (well, saturday) at 7:00 p.m... my dad and my brother came by at two and we just packed everything in the car.  man, i have a lot of stuff - in retrospect, perhaps i shouldn't have teased keith so much for having so much junk  in his room!  (although, he still has way more clothes than i do!)  anyway, i started to get really teary on saturday, i'm such a big sap!  i mean, i know that i'll most likely see these people during the summer, but still... i suppose it's partly because i will never live in that same rez atmosphere, and that's the thing i'll miss the most about first year: the rez life.

man, i tried to pack in as much fun as i could after my bio exam was done.  first i saw the ring (japanese version) in my room, and man, was that movie freaky!  ok, it was an hour-and-a-half long, and for the first hour-and-ten minutes i was like, man, this is not scary at all!  it seemed so cheesy!  but then, the last twenty or so minutes totally freaked me out - actually, it was just one scene pretty much, but i didn't expect it all, so i got totaly freaked out.  simon, i can see how that was traumatic as a child!  anyway, after the movie i hung out with suzana and tina for the rest of the evening.  we hung out with marco in the brock music room and played piano for a bit.  then tina and marco left, and me and suzana just stayed in the room and started to play some more piano and sing as well.  we sang a few praise songs, and she tried to teach me to sing the harmony parts to no real avail!  she's got a great singing voice, but i'm afraid that puberty did irreparable damage to my singing voice!  sigh.  and i used to be in chamber choir...

after that, we went upstairs to june's room for a bit and watched her pack up her stuff.  man, she has some nice shoes.  later on, tina, suzana and i went up to suzana's room again and just talked for several hours.  it was really good- we talked about our "life stories", guy stories, high school, uni life, and just whatever popped into our heads until five in the morning!  sniff, i'm so going to miss those late-night talks!

the next day, i went out with jeanie and jen to walk around the lakeshore and then go shopping downtown.  it was good to just spend time with them... and as always, shopping was great! i bought a book at a used bookstore - the case for christ by lee strobel.   i'm so going to drop by that store lateron next year - i can't believe i'll be going to be living downtown next year!!! we have such a sweet place!!!!  i live one block away from chapters indigo!!!!  (my dream come true... can you just see me and grace dropping my every day just to look at magazines?)  then in the evening, grace, marco and i met up with vic, nick, jess, rob, and "uncle frank" for bubble tea.  had a bit of a headache, but it was still really good spending time with them all.

friday night was really the best night, though.  victoria organized this goodbye/end-of-the-year potluck in the brock main common room and it was an absolute smash!  there was pizza, rice in a can (surprisingly good!), sushi, shake and bake, dessert, and champagne.... mmmm. heh. we made simon open the champagne bottle and he (on the request of the others), decided to shake the bottle and when he popped the cork, it went flying and made a dent in the common room (cardboard) ceiling tile!  ten years from now, if simon ever visits brock, he'll still see that little hole in the ceiling!  it was just so good to just talk and spend time with all my friends.  afterwards, simon and suzana performed a little concert for us in the music room (although, marco was the real star with his sensational singing!)  then we all sort of took turns playing and singing songs until one of the  three fire alarms that night went off!  so, after freezing my butt off (i was just wearing a skirt and tank top!), we eventually headed off to chernoff and watched billy elliot in one of the lecture halls... i love having my own private theatre!

anyway, as you've probably noticed, this is more of an account of what happened these past few days, rather thanone of my normal entries... i guess i just want to remember what went on more than anything.  my overall recollection was that it was a good way to end of the year.

oh, another note:  when i was hauling things to the car on saturday, i noticed a familiar couch sitting in the middle of the common room amongst unmatching chairs....

anyway, i think i'm a little tired now.  gonna go to sleep soon... sometime i'll post the pics from friday night up on the site... anyway, i'm off!

p.s.  yeah, so now that i'm back home, it's back to dial-up (yes, i know...) so i probably won't keep up with the site like i tried to during the school year.  just wanted to let you know!

p.p.s.  i know this entry was kinda devoid of real emotion, but i'm just a little tired.  inside though, i do feel really sad that i won't get to see people whenever i want (now that school's done for the year).  i LOVE all of you guys, and i really want to thank you all for making my first year memorable!  muah!  i'll see you all in the next four months!  (or in september if you're a poor sap from calgary!)
