House & garden

We were blessed with a pretty good garden when we first moved into our townhouse in 1997, although there were some parts which needed some serious work (and some still do!). Click on the photos and take a peek!

Project "Back Garden"

Japanese garden

This garden used to be full of weeds and a big broom tree.  Between Jan and Mar 2001, we pulled everything out except the mountain pine and the eriostemon, and planted Japanese maple, camellias, Mexican orange blossom and Japanese box.  The Japanese statue covers the water main, and we painted the wall red.

Front garden

This is pretty much how this garden looked when we moved in, although we have done some things on the right and left of the path past the tree fern. This photo is taken from the front door, looking towards our garden date

Patio

This photo was taken just after I cleared the patio ceiling of climbing fig, so it all looks a bit worse for wear. Its a lovely spot for lunch and an afternoon G&T.

Front garden entry

We painted the side of the carport the same red as the Japanese garden, and installed a statue and planted dwarf mondo grass. On the left side of the path, we created a formal garden with Japanese box and gardenias. In spring the whole pergola area is covered in Wisteria.  This photo is taken from the front gate looking towards the front door
